51st Annual Houston Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, July 31 to Saturday, August 9 | FREE – The University of Houston presents alternating performances of the stirring Henry V and enchanting As You Like It in the heart of Hermann Park. 8:15pm nightly.
Weird Al Yankovic in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Friday, August 1 – The acclaimed pop music parodist—and award-winning musician and icon in his own right—brings his Bigger and Weirder 2025 tour to The Woodlands. Puddles Pity Party opens. $47+. 7:15pm.
22nd Annual Houston Restaurant Weeks Around Greater Houston | Friday, August 1 to Labor Day, Monday, September 1 – Benefiting Houston Food Bank, Houston’s signature dining event returns with 32 days of multi-course, prix-fixe menus for brunch, lunch and dinner at nearly 400 restaurants across the Greater Houston area. $25 brunch and lunch menus; $39 or $55 for dinners.
All-Stars Car Show at Daiken Park | Saturday, August 2 – Experience the only car show in history hosted inside a Major League Baseball stadium, with vintage classics, hypercars, muscle cars, rare Japanese legends, iconic movie cars, and more. $26.65; $6.42 ages 4 to 12. 10am to 5pm.

11th Annual OkraFest at The Lyceum | Saturday, August 2 – Dubbed “The MET Gala of Galveston,” OkraFest is a joyfully unserious fundraising dress-up party and celebration, with food, drinks, live music, and 2025’s “Cowboy Disco” theme, supporting Galveston’s Own Farmers Market. $125+. 7pm to 10pm.
$3 Movies & Free Popcorn at Regal Greenway Grand Palace | Saturday, August 2 & Sunday, August 8 – Escape the summer heat with 2 days of flashback movie hits for just $3, in celebration of the refurbished Greenway movie palace, now with luxury recliners, a full bar, and more. 5th Annual Houston Horror Film Fest at Houston Marriott Westchase | Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10 – The yearly convention returns to Westchase with 3 days of horror film and pop culture fun, celebrity meet-and-greets, Q&A panels, plus more than 100 local vendors, artists, authors and more. Houston Reggae Summer Fest at City Hall | Saturday, August 9 – A warm-up for the big annual festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 4, the day promises 6 hours of reggae DJs spinning, food trucks, local vendors, and block party vibes. $23+. 4pm to 10pm.
Mixtape Weekend at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, August 15 & Saturday August 16 | FREE – Now in its fifth year, the popular Miller Summer Mixtape concert doubles down with an original live mixtape concert performance. Things kick off on Friday night with ‘90s Mixtape, with a line up 1990s hits sung by 4 Broadway vocalists, then the main event on Saturday night highlights indie HTX talent, with performances by Vortxz, Astro Inn, and Astralce, along with DJ Mohawk Steve. 8pm both nights.

Life of Pi at The Hobby Center | Tuesday, August 19 to Sunday, August 24 – Experience the Tony-winning theatrical adaptation of Yann Martel’s bestselling novel, Life of Pi. The visually stunning production tells the story of a young boy stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger, using world-class puppetry and stagecraft. From photos, it may be easy to assume it’s a musical in the vein of The Lion King, but while it is lively and spectacular, you’ll find no singing and dancing here. $53.25+. Times vary.
Performing Arts Houston: 6th Annual Mariachi Festival at Wortham Center | Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24 – Celebrate the creativity and legacy of Mariachi music and Hispanic culture as the popular festival brings some of the biggest names in the genre to H-TOwn, including Mariachi Imperial de Mexico, Mariachi Mariposas, Mariachi 7 Leguas, and more. $19+. National Battle of the Bands at NRG Stadium | Saturday, August 23 – Kicking off the fall marching band season, the annual competition sees the country’s top bands battling it out on the Texans’ gridiron.
