- The Music Man at Hobby Center | Daily – We got trouble, yes trouble right here in Bayou City, with a capital T, that rhymes with P and that stands for pool. TUTS brings the delightful and hilarious family musical to Downtown Houston. It features a parade of classic Broadway tunes, including “Seventy-Six Trombones,” the afore-refernced “Ya Got Trouble,” “Till There Was You,” “Goodnight, My Someone” and (the song that inspired Family Guy) “Shipoopi.” Times and prices vary, but limited discounted tickets are available.
- Yaga’s Wild Game BBQ Cook Off in Galveston | Friday and Saturday – The 19th Annual Wild Game BBQ Cook Off features live music on the pier, the Run Wild 5k, a Kid’s Area with face painting, moon walks and a petting zoo, silent auction and an awards presentation for the best dish in each of the seven categories including seafood, ribs, fajitas and wild game. $35 for 5k registration; $8 for cook off dinner ticket. 7pm to 11pm Friday; 8am to 10:30pm Saturday.
- Houston Palestine Film Festival at MFAH | Friday and Saturday – View feature films The Wanted 18 and Villa Touma during the opening weekend of the Houston Palestine Film Festival. $10; $8 for MFAH members, students and seniors. 7:30pm Friday; 7pm Saturday.
- Lend Me a Tenor at The Pearl Theater | Friday to Sunday – Written by Ken Ludwig, the author of An American in Paris, this madcap comic farce filled with saucy innuendos, mistaken identities and slamming doors. $15; limited discounted $7.50 available. Times vary.
- Winnie the Pooh at The Pearland Community Center | Friday to Sunday – Watch the Kids’ Backporch Productions’ take on the classic story of Winnie the Pooh in Pearland. $14; $10 seniors; $8 children; limited discounted $7 and $4 children tickets available. 7pm Friday; 3:30pm and 7pm Saturday; 3:30pm Sunday.
- Texas Crab Festival in Crystal Beach | Friday to Sunday – Crack into a whole lotta crab during this festival in Crystal Beach. Sample some of the best during a crab gumbo cook-off, try your hand at washers, and dance the night away during a 2-step contest. $10 including ticket fees. Noon to midnight Friday; 10am to midnight Saturday; 10am to 6pm Sunday.
- 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche at Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios | Friday and Saturday – The Boiling Point Players present a program the highlights sexuality, atom bombs and quiche in the mid-1950s. Additional performances and improv acts follow. $15; limited discounted $7.50 tickets available. 8pm both nights.
- The Book of Murder at the Purple Box Theater in Friendswood | Friday to Sunday – After trying to extort money from his three ex-wives, writer Henry T. Aythecliff is murdered in this clever whodunit. $12; limited discounted $6 tickets available. 8pm.
- Winnie the Pooh at Pearland Community Center | Friday to Sunday – Christopher Robin’s “silly old bear” appears live on stage in this Kids’ Backporch production featuring Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger and more. $8 to $14; limited discounted $4 to $7 tickets available. Times vary.

- Wild Wheels at the Houston Zoo – Stroll around the zoo with your child(ren) and learn about animals with soft coverings during this monthly program aimed at children from newborn to 3 years old. This event is part of the Wild Wheels series. $25 for first child includes 1 adult admission; zoo members: $10 children and $2 adults. 9:15am to 10:15am.
- Esprit de She 5k/10k at Lifetime Fitness Katy – Race to the finish line alongside other women during the Esprit de She run at a distance of 5k or 10k in Katy. Stick around after the race for tapas and a drink from the bubbly bar. $15. 5pm to 9pm.
- Mostly Martha Screening at Le Notre | FREE – Catch a screening of culinary flick Mostly Martha at Culinary Institute LeNotre. This event is part of the Culinary Movie Nights that take place on the first Thursday of the month. 6pm.
- Bill Carter and The Blame in Concert at Discovery Green | FREE – Hear a concert from Austin based band Bill Carter and The Blame at Discovery Green. This event is part of the Sounds Like Houston! Thursday concert series at Discovery Green. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
- Spring on the Green in Hermann Park – Mingle with Hermann Park Conservancy’s young professionals group Urban Green while enjoying food, drinks and music at the recently opened McGovern Centennial Gardens. $40; $30 Urban Green members. 7pm to 10pm.
- Sugar Land Skeeters vs Somerset Patriots at Constellation Field – Enjoy $2 beer and sodas with Thirsty Thursday as the Skeeters battle their east coast rivals. $8 to $13; Limited discounted $6.50 tickets available. 7:05pm
- Lana Del Ray in Concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Hear live music from singer-songwriter Lana Del Ray and opening act Courtney Love in The Woodlands. First run tickets are sold out, but a limited number of tickets are be available on the TicketNetwork resale site. 7:30pm.
- Musiqa Loft Concert: Pretty/Dirty at CAMH | FREE – Listen in on a Musiqa concert inspired by the current CAMH exhibition Marilyn Minter: Pretty/Dirty at the museum. 7:30pm.

- Caitie Sellers and Jason Kishell Opening Preview at HCCC | FREE – Former residents Caitie Sellers and Jason Kishell will show their works – metal and ceramic sculptures respectively – side-by-side at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, and guests are invited to preview the exhibit during this opening reception. 5pm to 7pm.
- Opening Reception of Five Exhibitions at HCP – Celebrate the opening of exhibitions from Amy Elkins, Vladimir Frumin, Ben Altman and students from the Collaborations program at HCP. The evening will begin with a few words from the artists followed by a reception. 5:30pm to 8pm.
- A B C D Opening Reception at Lawndale Art Center – See works of several artists from The Lawndale Artist Studio Program during this opening reception of their exhibition on view through June 13. Arrive early to hear from the artists at 6pm. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
