  • 4th Annual Anything that Floats Competition at the Sesquicentennial Promenade | FREE to attend – Join the Rice Design Alliance young professionals group rdAGENTS as they race to build a seaworthy conveyance for two people from surprise materials and then race it across the bayou. 8am to 1pm.
  • Yoga on the Plaza at Rothko Chapel – Instructors from Bayou Bliss Yoga lead a 60-minute yoga practice (Hatha) outside of the Rothko Chapel in Montrose. Be sure to bring a towel, yoga mat and water. $10 suggested donation. 9am.
  • Easter Egg Hunt at Blessington Farms – Mosey over to Simonton for a leisurely egg hunt throughout the day. $3 per child plus farm admission. 9:30am to 3:30pm
  • Debut of Saturday Brunch at Triniti Restaurant and Bar – The Upper Kirby hotspot extends their Sunday brunch into Saturday, featuring the same great menu plus a new selection of breads and pastries from Chef Samantha Mendoza each Saturday. 11am to 3pm.
  • 8th Annual Midtown Art in the Park at Elizabeth Baldwin Park | FREE – Browse art under the towering oaks and enjoy food and drink at the Texas Beer Garden complete with food trucks, children’s playground and more. 10am to 6pm.  
  • Rice Village Flea | FREE – Explore the hidden treasures of this cool, curated market featuring antiques, vintage good, curiosities, “up cycled” furniture and other things too interesting to be names. You’ll find it at the corner of Times Boulevard and Morningside Drive from 10am to 6pm.
  • 6th Annual Earth Day at Discovery Green | FREE – Explore earth-friendly topics ranging from preservation and conservation to wildlife and local farming at this family friendly event with more than 100 booths and displays from Air Alliance Houston. 11am to 5pm.
  • 15th Annual Midtown VISIONS Cultural Arts Tour | FREE – Explore more than 20 Midtown visual and cultural art galleries and destinations, including Art in the Park. Noon to 5pm.
  • Life in Color: The World’s Largest Paint Party at Minute Maid Park – Get doused in day-glo at this multi-media concert with star DJs and performances from Showtek, R3hab and David Solano and a painting performance by Giraldi. 2:30pm.
  • Houston Rockets vs. New Orleans Pelicans at Toyota Center – NOLA comes to H-Town for this Saturday night showdown. Tickets are available, but you’ll likely find cheaper or better seats via TicketNetwork’s resale market. 7pm.
  • Pixar’s Wall-E Outdoor Movie Screening at Discovery Green | FREE – Revisit Pixar’s tale of a dystopian future, where humanity’s best hope is a lovable earthbound garbage robot with a soft spot for classic cinema. Movie starts at 8:30pm. Games and activities kick off an hour earlier.

  • 2nd Annual West Houston Food Truck Festival – Find food from Coreanos, Koagie Hots, The Golden Grill, Tila’s, Third Coast Sandwiches, The Waffle Bus, Flaming Patties, What’s Up Cupcake, Sweet Treats Snow Cones accompanied by live music and a beer and wine garden at $8 admission. Noon to 4pm.
  • Mini Pop from Pop Shop Houston in Montrose | FREE – Shop for handmade crafts and designs at the last Pops event before September at Leopard Lounge. You’ll find food from H-Town Streats, juices from Juice Girl, beer from Karbach, vinyl spun by Reverberation DJs, and live music from Josh Cormier at 5pm. Noon to 8pm.
  • Gracie Nguyen Fundraiser by Ghetto Dinner at Big Star Bar – Join in at this boucherie, bake sale, silent auction and live music event to raise funds to help with Houston pastry chef Gracie Nguyen’s medical expenses. One of the victims of the hit-and-run accident at SXSW last month, she has been released from ICU in Austin and brought back to Houston. 2pm.
  • Willy Wonka: The Musical presented by Upstage Theatre Co. in the Heights – Based both on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book and the classic musical film, this family-friendly production breathes new energy into the tale of Charlie Bucket, golden tickets, oompa loompas and more. $12; Discount tickets available for $6 for a limited time. 2:30pm.
  • The Importance of Being Earnest at The Barn – Two young bachelors attempt to come across as very earnest, while masquerading as a guy named Ernest, to win their ladies’ hearts in Oscar Wilde’s classic Victorian comedy. Discount tickets available. 2:30pm.
  • “Off the Wall” Dinner Series at Underbelly – Chris Shepherd welcomes Randy Evans, Mark Holley and Atkinson Farms as guest chefs and participants in the second of six dinner installments featuring the businesses and culinary folk celebrated on Underbelly’s photo wall. $100. Reservations required and going quickly. 5pm to 10:30pm.
  • Metal Alliance Tour featuring Behemoth at House of Blues – Heavy metal heads Behemoth are joined by Goatwhore, 1349 and Inquisition in this Sunday evening show. 6pm.
  • Game of Thrones Season Four Premiere Viewing at The Phoenix on Westheimer – Find strength in numbers as you return to Westeros at this weekly viewing party at the former Firkin and Phoenix. Fans are encouraged to arrive well before the 8pm showtime to secure a seat.
