Things to Do All Weekend Long

  • Mackenzie Thorpe: A World of Love Opening Reception at Off The Wall | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Explore original works, sculptures and limited editions by the celebrated British artist at the Galleria-area arts gallery. RSVP for an opportunity to meet the artist on Friday and Saturday. Times vary.
  • Alliance Theatre presents Out of the Depths at MATCH | Thursday to Saturday – Peer into the hearts and minds of real Houstonians who struggle with various types of mental illness, through the true stories of 10 adults at the Midtown theater. $20. Times vary.
  • 5th Annual Jaipur Literature Festival Houston at Asia Society Texas | Friday & Saturday – Internationally acclaimed authors and local writers spotlight this two-day event, called “the greatest literary show on earth.” The weekend includes panels and discussions, a dinner and more, all celebrating the hope and community books can offer. $20; $5 for students. $50 for a weekend pass. Friday 7pm to 10pm; Saturday 10am to 6pm.
  • Comedian April Macie at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – A Last Comic Standing finalist, April Macie brings the laughs to the upstairs stage at Rudyard’s in Montrose. $17 and up. 7pm and 9pm both nights.
  • My Name is Not Mom at Wortham Center | Friday & Saturday – Embark on a hilarious journey through motherhood with internet sensations Tiffany Jenkins, Meredith Masony, and Dena Blizzard. The comic trio shares their take on mothering through the sleepless nights of the toddler years, middle school craziness, and trying not to physically attack a high schooler. $40 to $60. 7:30pm both nights. 
  • Polish Harvest Festival at Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church | Friday to Sunday | FREE – Based on the centuries-old Polish tradition of Dozynki, an end of harvest jubilee celebration, the Polish Harvest Festival combines traditional and modern elements featuring food, drink, and entertainment, plus a Chrildren’s Corner that offers an area full of exciting games, face painting, bounce houses and more. Though free to attend, food and drinks are on you. Times vary.
  • Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – The Astros host Shohei Ohtani and the Angels for the final time this season, across a weekend that features a Justin Verlander ’90s jersey giveaway, a Kyle Tucker bobblehead, and First Responders Day with a commemorative coin up for grabs to the first 10,000 fans. $12 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian Jason Banks at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The touring comic who has featured on TruTV’s Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, and on the Comedians on South High podcast comes to Houston for a weekend of laughs. Tickets are $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Houston Symphony presents Cirque de la Symphonie at Jones Hall | Friday to Sunday – Aerialists, balancers, contortionists oh my; there will be three opportunities over the weekend to lose yourself in the sights and sounds of this special family-friendly spectacle from the Houston Symphony. $29 and up. Times vary.
  • 60th Anniversary of the John F. Kennedy Speech at Rice University | Saturday & Sunday | Some FREE – Rice University celebrates 60 years since President John F. Kennedy gave his “We choose to go to the Moon” speech at Rice Stadium. Weekend festivities include free access to space exploration, industry and research exhibits, the opportunity to take a selfie from space on Friday morning at 11am, and more. Times vary.
  • Thanks for the Memories at National Museum of Funeral History | Daily – Peruse through tributes and funeral memorabilia from some of the world’s most well-known celebrities at the North Houston museum of all things funerary. $10. Times vary.
