  • 2021 Oktoberfest Events & Celebrations in Houston  Strap on your Lederhosen and toast your favorite brews at one (or more) of our picks for 2021 Oktoberfest celebrations, parties and events taking place around Houston. Times, locations and prices vary.
  • Ruff Runner & Yappy Hour at Independence Park in Pearland – This all-ages, pet-themed race will send runners through a 5K course, or offer them a chance to team up with their four-legged friend to run 1K or 3K lengths. Afterward, stick around for a post-race Yappy Hour, featuring drinks from Vallenson’s Brewing Company and a presentation of medals. $20 for 3K or 5K lengths; $15 for 1K, restricted to ages 14 and under. 7am.
  • Badges & Bases 5K, 10K & Kids Run at Minute Maid Park – Benefiting the Astros Foundation and the Houston Police Foundation, this run event sends participants north of the stadium and loops them back to finish inside the ballpark, with a photo op at home plate. $30 for the 5K; $40 for the 10K; $15 for the Kids run. 7:15am.
  • Galveston Island Market at 23rd & Mechanic Street | No Cover – This monthly market in Downtown Galveston offers an outdoor setting amid historic architecture for visitors to browse goods from local artisans, hand-crafters, and growers. 10am to 4pm. 
  • Photography Workshop at CityPlace | FREE – Say “cheese” during a workshop perfect for photographers of all skill levels when Houston Center for Photography hosts its class at CityPlace. 10am.
  • Fall Art Show at Market Street | FREE – Check out interesting art from amateur and professional artists showcasing their paintings, photography, jewelry, metal works, sculptures, digital art, mixed media, and other works during the 2021 Fall Arts Show at Market Street in the Woodlands. 10am to 7pm.
  • True Anomaly Brewing Anniversary Party in EaDo | No Cover Delayed from spring 2020 due to obvious circumstances, the national, state, and local award-winning brewery founded by 4 NASA guys finally throws its much delayed anniversary celebration 2.5-ish years after its actual opening. Expect a special brunch, live music all-day, bottle releases, a tasty boozy ice cream, a silent auction, and. more. 11am to 1am. 
  • B-52 Oktoberfest at B-52 Brewing | No Cover – The Conroe brewery is hosting a family and pet-friendly Oktoberfest celebration, complete with beer releases, eats, fun games and more. Noon to 10pm. 
  • Karbach Oktoberfest at Front Porch Pub | No Cover – Raise your glass to Oktoberfest festivities including a stein holding competition, costume contests, as well as beers, pretzels and more, when Front Porch Pub hosts their Karbach Oktoberfest shindig. Noon to 11:55pm.
  • Bugstock at Buffalo Bend Nature Park | FREE – Enjoy an evening of bug-inspired activities, music, plant giveaways, an interactive sculpture by Brandon Ballengée and more, when Buffalo Bayou Partnership hosts Bugstock at Buffalo Bend Nature Park in Second Ward. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Woofstock 2021 at Dow Park | FREE – Bring out the doggies for an adorable day dedicated to man’s best friend when the City of Deer Park and Deer Park Animal Shelter presents Woofstock 2021 at Dow Park, featuring groovy music, good vibes, adoptable dogs, live music, vendor shopping, and more family-friendly fun. 4:30pm to 10pm.
  • ROCO presents Bursting at the Seams at Church of St. John the Divine | Virtual Option – Opening the orchestra’s 17th season, this full-orchestra concert features two world-premiere pieces inspired by real-life events: Maxime Goulet’s Ice Storm Symphony, Turmoil explores Canada’s devastating 1998 ice storm, and Marcus Maroney’s OK, Goodbye was inspired by the melting of Iceland’s Okjökull glacier. This performance will also be livestreamed online. Tickets are pay-what-you-will, with suggested price of $35. 5pm.
  • College Football: Rice Owls vs. Texas Southern Tigers at Rice Stadium – With both teams coming off huge losses to historic rivals (Rice fell 7-44 against the Coogs; TSU dropped the Labor Day Classic to Prairie View A&M, 17-40), these squads will look to right the ship against one another on the Rice Stadium gridiron. $20 to $60. 5:30pm.
  • College Football: Houston Cougars vs. Navy Midshipmen at TDECU Stadium – The Coogs get a shot at a nationally ranked team on their home turf while celebrating military and first responders. $20 to $125, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6pm.
  • An Evening in the Park at White Oak Park in the Heights  Enjoy a picnic basket full of tasty treats amid the backdrop of the Downtown skyline and live jazz tunes from Raquel Cepeda. Baskets serve 2 to 3 people and come with your choice of charcuterie or two sandwiches, plus sweet treats, wine and more. $85, additional sides are available. 6pm.
  • Twilight Market near NRG Park | FREE – Browse an evening pop-up shop featuring food trucks, DJ tunes, gift card giveaways and more, when CreativeCo.Lab hosts their inaugural Twilight Market showcasing small local businesses and vendors on South Loop West, east of NRG Park. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Tejano Night at Southern Star Brewing Co. Throw back a couple of cold ones while DJ Dan spins nothing but Tejano music at Southern Star Brewery’s taproom. $10 cover charge. 7pm.
  • Foundation for Modern Music presents Salsa y Salud at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – This fully staged theatrical production features a cast of over 50, made up of artists from Houston and around the world, in a program that incorporates salsa hits and world premiere performances. This production will also be livestreamed online. 8pm.
  • Shinyribs in Concert at White Oak Music HallThrow on your boots and head to the Heights for a concert from Austin-based country-soul band, Shinyribs, when they take to the stage at White Oak Music Hall for a live performance. $25 in advance; $30 at the door. 8pm.
  • Marisela in Concert at Arena Theatre – The chart-topping American-Mexican singer returns to touring, with a stop at Southwest Houston’s venue for an evening of her hits, including 1987’s “Tu Dama de Hierro”, for which her tour is named after. $40 to more than $115, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
  • UFC 266 Viewing Party at Little Woodrow’s Midtown | No Cover – Join Little Woodrow’s in Midtown for in-your-face action while watching UFC 266 as the men’s lightweight and women’s flyweight titles are on the line in the octagon. 9pm.

  • Chef Fest at Harvest Green Village Farm – Chef Fest returns to Houston, inviting nine Houston chefs, including Chris Williams of Lucille’s Hospitality Group, Dawn Burrell of Late August, and Tatemo’s Emmanuel Chavez, to showcase their passion for local produce while raising awareness and proceeds for the Houston Food System Collaborative. Guests can wash down the day’s bites with craft cocktails, local beer and add-on tasting and cooking experiences. $95 for adults ($20 for children) and includes admission, unlimited samplings, five drink tickets for those 21+, live music and more. 11am to 3pm.
  • South Houston Food Fest at Edgebrook Plaza – Make sure you have an empty stomach before attending the third annual South Houston Food Fest. Held right off Gulf Freeway, there will be plenty of food trucks, daiquiris and live music for attendees to enjoy. Entry is free before 11am, $10 after. Noon to 7pm.
  • DIY Workshop at Spindletap Brewery Sip on a cold brew and customize a sign project when Hammer & Stain Houston hosts a DIY Workshop at Spindletap Brewery. $30 to $65. 1pm to 3pm.
  • Houston Latin Fest 2021 at Midtown Park Para todos los Latinos, this event brings together culture, music, art, cuisine and more from the North, Central, and South America regions—plus the Caribbean—for a rich Latin experience. Enjoy live concerts, local vendors, tasty bites, and more with family and friends. Advance tickets start at $10 and include a complimentary Old Parr drink; free for ages 12 and under. 1pm to 10pm.
  • Free Train Rides at Zube Park in Hockley | FREE – Hop aboard for a ride from the Houston Area Live Steamers when they fire up their large-scale model railroad in Hockley’s public park. 2pm to 5pm.
  • Cornhole Tournament at Little Woodrow’s EaDo | No Cover – Bring your pals out to enjoy some friendly cornhole competition and sign up for a chance to win prizes at Little Woodrow’s EaDo. 3pm.
  • Young Artist Showcase at Evelyn’s Park | FREE – Finish off your weekend watching a family-friendly showcase featuring talented musicians in the making at Evelyn’s Park in Bellaire. 4pm to 7pm.
  • USPA H. Ben Taub Memorial Cup at Houston Polo Club – Fill the stands to enjoy a world-class polo match as two teams compete on the pitch during the USPA H. Ben Taub Memorial Cup, complete with a player parade, expert announcing, live music, and a champagne divot stomp at halftime. $32.50; $15 for ages 12 and under. Grandstand boxes, which include seating for 2 to 20 guests, range from $79 to $695. 5pm.
  • Swan Song Movie Screening at MFAH Presented in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of QFest, Houston’s LGBTQ film festival, watch a screening of the brand new film Swan Song, at MFAH. $10; $8 for seniors. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Daryl Hall & John Oates in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Hear a set filled with timeless hits like “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” “Maneater,” and “She’s Gone” when ’70s pop duo Daryl Hall & John Oates take the stage at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands. Tickets start at $29.50. 7pm.
  • Tapestry in Concert at Main Street Crossing Experience a Carole King tribute when Tapestry hits the stage at Main Street Crossing in Tomball. $38 to $135. 7pm.
  • Comedian Liz Miele at the Secret Group – Laugh out loud watching a headlining set from comedian Liz Miele, known for her appearances on Comedy Central, Hulu, and NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, when she performs a set of new material at the Secret Group in EaDo. $20; $25 day of the show. 8pm.
  • Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn Movie Screening at Axelrad | No Cover – Save the world while watching an outdoor screening of the 1995 popular anime movie, Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, and sip on delicious drinks at Axelrad Beer Garden in Midtown. 8pm to 11pm.
