  • 19th Annual Run in the Park at Hermann Park – In support of the crucial work of Hermann Park Conservancy, this annual 5K and 10K sends runners around the park paths and back for a post-race party with food, drinks, music and more. $15 and up. 8am.
  • 15th Annual CAC Duck Race at Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures – This 15th annual fundraiser supports Community Assistance Center by sending 10,000 rubber ducks tumbling, splashing and bobbing down the lazy river at the Conroe waterpark. Adopt a duck to win it all and you can have a chance at prizes and cash. $5 to adopt at duck. 9am to 11am.
  • Trees For Houston’s Tree Giveaway at White Oak Music Hall | FREE – Pull up on Saturday morning outside of White Oak Music Hall and pick up free trees that you can plant at home. Species include American Beautyberry, Buttonbush, Loblolly Pine, Overcup Oak, Pecan, and Virginia Willow; available first-come, first-serve. 9am to noon.
  • The Kids are All Write at Smither Park – Kids ages 7 to 12 can have fun writing and sharing their own stories and poems at Smither Park with the former director of Writers in the Schools, Robin Reagler. $5. 10am to noon.
  • Gentle Movement with Danza Azteca at Houston Botanic Garden | FREE with RSVP – Monica Villarreal of Danza Azteca partners with AARP in Houston for a class that teaches traditional dance steps of Indigenous Mexico. Free with reservation; space is limited to 25 people. 10am to noon.
  • Sugar Land Fall Fest at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Kick off the fall season in Sugar Land with this free afternoon festival featuring live music, food, dance and cultural performances, art demos, hayrides and more. Food and drink specials will also be available at Sugar Land Town Square restaurants. 10am to 3pm.
  • Take Me Outdoors Houston at Discovery Green | FREE – This 12th annual fest returns to the Downtown greenspace, offering kids and families a chance to get hands-on with activities, meet an array of animals, and more, hosted by Texas Parks & Wildlife. 10am to 3pm.
  • Post Flea Market at Post Houston | No Cover – Take to the Barbara Jordan Front Plaza for the monthly array of local vendors doling out goods from local honey to vintage apparel. 11am to 5pm.
  • Blood Drive with Kendra Scott at CityCentre | FREE – Join Kendra Scott and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center at their blood drive truck outside of Anthropologie at CityCentre. Donors will receive a gift and discount from Kendra Scott after donating. 11am to 5pm.
  • Ironworks Flea Market at Cameron Iron Works | No Cover – Shop vintage clothing and trinkets, as well as art and crafts from local vendors at this Second Ward destination that also features Segundo Coffee Lab. Noon to 6pm.
  • Tuner Evolution at NRG Park – Car enthusiasts are welcome to gather at this NRG Park exhibition of tuned-up automobiles, with appearances by influencers, live music and DJs, a B-Boy contest and a judged car show. $30 and up. Noon to 7pm.
  • Oktoberfest 2022 at B-52 Brewing – Enjoy German brews and traditional foods at the Conroe brewery’s annual Oktoberfest celebration, featuring live music, games and competitions, a best-dressed contest and more. $30. Noon to 9pm.
  • Oktoberfest at Urban South HTX Brewery | No Cover – Strap on your Lederhosen and enjoy a day of Oktoberfest fun near Sawyer Yards with games like a mustard-eating contest and stein-holding competition, alongside dozens of flowing taps. 1pm.
  • Red Bull DIY Galveston: Street Skating Meets the Beach on Seawall | FREE – Watch some tricks at this skateboarding contest event along with a new mural, and a beach clean-up at the Beach Access Ramp near 57th & Seawall. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Found & Made Artist Talk at Archway Gallery | FREE – Artist Damon Thomas will be on hand to talk about his new sculptures that are on display at Archway’s exhibition, Found & Made. 2pm.
  • Puptoberfest at Little Woodrow’s EaDo | No Cover – Dog lovers and owners can come together for Puptoberfest to enjoy multiple beer vendors, puppy pools, treats, games, and more at the EaDo outpost of the popular drinkery. 2pm to 6pm.
  • Oktoberfest at Eureka Heights Brew Co. | No Cover – Get down for the popular drinking holiday and enjoy eats like sauerkraut, pretzels and brats and well as live music, photo ops and games at the Heights brewery. 2pm to 7pm.
  • Intuitive & Wellness Fair at Sundance Yoga in Friendswood – This 20th annual event offers the chance to meet and visit with healing and wellness specialists, including body works, energy workers, acupuncturists, vendors and more. Free to attend, and visitors can sample any vendor’s service for 20 minutes for $20. 2pm to 7pm.
  • 7th Annual All White Day Party at Clé Day & Night – Don your finest whites for a day party featuring food, cigars and hookah, plus a visit from 2-time Super Bowl champion, Nate Washington. $40 and up. 2pm to 8pm.
  • Houston Cougars vs. Rice Owls at TDECU Stadium – The Bayou Bucket is up for grabs when these two historic rivals clash on the gridiron at the University of Houston campus. $15 and up. 5pm.
  • Plumshuga and Fame! Movie Screenings at Discovery Green | FREE – Catch a screening of the short documentary, Plumshuga, about Houston’s own Lauren Anderson—who is the first Black lead ballerina in a major U.S. company—followed by a Q&A panel with Stages Theater director Eboni Bell Darcy and former Houston poet laureate, Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton. The musical movie, Fame!, will follow. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Wu-Tang Clan & Nas in Concert at Toyota Center – Hip-hop prophets Wu-Tang Clan are bringing Nas and big apple vibes to the H on their New York State of Mind Tour. $39.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Houston Jazz Festival: Mono Neon & more in Concert at 713 Music Hall – Experimental bassist Mono Neon headlines the second-to-last night of the Houston Jazz Festival, performing alongside James Francies and Andy Timmons. $35. 7pm.
  • Comedian Steve Trevino at Cullen Performance Hall – The self-described “America’s Favorite Husband,” Steve Treviño arrives at UH to deliver his candid takes on the day-to-day joys of marriage and family life. $29 and up. 7pm and 9:30pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. OL Reign at PNC Stadium – The Dash’s final home game of the regular season arrives in late September, just as the squad gears up for its first ever playoff push. $12 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Bayou City Jazz Celebration at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Enjoy swinging performances by the Jazz Houston Orchestra, renowned vocalist Belinda Munro, and acclaimed pianist Helen Sung. 8pm.
  • Lee Brice in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – The award-winning country artist brings some of his latest tunes, including from 2020’s Hey World, to the Sugar Land venue. $30 and up. 8pm.
  • Jack White in Concert at Bayou Music Center – Garage rocker and lead singer and guitarist of the duo, the White Stripes, Jack White takes the stage in Downtown, performing his latest album, Entering Heaven Alive. $55 and up 8pm.
  • FotoFest Biennial 2022 Grand Opening at Silver Street Studios | FREE – Meet the artists, curators and team behind the FotoFest Biennial, while enjoying refreshments, live music, and a first look at the 2022 exhibition, If I Had a Hammer. 8pm to 11pm. ‘Silent Disco at Social Beer Garden HTX | No Cover – Dance along to the beat of your choice as 12 different DJs spin tunes on 3 different channels—all broadcasted direct to your own complementary headset—into the wee hours at the Midtown favorite. 9pm to 2am.

  • Sunday Funday Destinations Around Greater Houston – Not sure where to get your midday Sunday good vibes on? Find the best daytime destinations to wrap up your weekends—or keep them going in this case of this long Labor Day Weekend around the H-Town metro—in EaDo and the East End, Montrose’s Westheimer Curve, Lazybrook / Timbergrove, Shady Acres, Arts District Houston, River Oaks District, The Woodlands, Clear Lake, the “Gayborhood” and other LGBTQ+ favorites, and more. Times vary.
  • Fairy Gardening at Houston Botanic Garden – Katherine McDaniel, founder, and director of Synkroniciti, will teach participants to repurpose fallen leaves, seedpods, stones, shells, dried flowers, and more, to construct whimsical fairy houses and create a miniature garden for fairies and gnomes. $28. 10am to 1pm.
  • 2nd Annual Charreada at Traders Village – Rooted in Mexican cultural traditions, this festive event extends beyond rodeo horses and riders to include costume, music and delicious foods. Expect dancing horses, live performances, a petting zoo and more. Free to attend; $5 for parking. 10am to 5pm.
  • Pound & Pour September at Ingenious Brewing Co. – Take a Pound class, a workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and yoga-inspired movements to make a lot of noise. $15; includes one-hour class and one free beer. 10:30am.
  • Corgi Social at Little Woodrow’s Midtown | No Cover – Bring your pup over to Little Woodrow’s in Midtown for a Corgi Social that includes a giant puppy pool, toys, and treats. Noon.
  • Casa Cornhole Tournament at Southern Star Brewery – Whether you wanna play just for fun or get competitive, you can participate in the Casa Cornhole Tournament. There will also be live music, food trucks, and fun for the whole family. $100 to register as a 2-person “just for fun” team; $200 for a 2-person competitive team. Noon.
  • Takuache Festival Houston at Sports Creek – Celebrate National Latin Heritage Month in East End featuring live music from bandas and grupos all day long, local vendors and food pop-ups, ice cold micheladas, and more. Advance tickets start at $10. Noon to 9pm.
  • El Festival de la Salsa at Midtown Park – The central Midtown parkspace hosts an all-day festival including salsa artists Maelo Ruiz, Cro Cro y Su Tumbaka, Rudy Rincon, and several others along with a salsa dance competition, food and more. Free before 3pm with RSVP; $10 after. Free for ages 12 and under. 1pm to 10pm.
  • S&S Youth Foundation Kickoff at Blossom Hotel Houston | FREE – This kickoff event sees the S&S Youth Foundation introducing teens and parents to teen leadership and confidence-building opportunities, with a program overview, Q&A session and an open floor for Houston teens to share what topics are important to them. 2pm to 4pm.
  • Comedian Pinky Patel at Houston Improv – Garnering a fan base of more than 5 million followers, the PTA mom turned comic and creator is known for her witty commentary and viral videos shot from her glam cave, and now she comes to the Improv for two Sunday sets on the Hello My Priends Tour. Tickets start at $60 for 2, and up. 3pm and 7pm.
  • Lewis Jewelers Classic at Houston Polo Club – The Houston polo season continues with the Lewis Jewelers Classic, featuring world class polo, a player parade, expert announcing, live music, Champagne divot stomp at halftime and special trophy presentation. $35; $15.50 for ages 12 and under. Boxes for 2 to 20 guests range from $89 to $895. 5pm.
  • Tejas Got Soul: La Fiebre in Concert at Discovery Green | FREE – The first of three monthly concerts that explores the legacy of Chicano soul features La Fiebre, a storied, platinum-selling group of Tejano trendsetters that hail from Pasadena. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Supper Club: Disco Inferno at The Annie Cafe & BarThe Annie has reimagined the classic dinner and show, hosting a series of Sunday Suppers in its main dining room, complete with live musical entertainment by the Richard Brown Orchestra and a three-course meal by Executive Chef Brian Sutton (Chef Robert Del Grande’s successor). This month’s theme is “Disco Inferno,” and guests are encouraged to dress to match, with the restaurant decorated accordingly. $250 per person. 6pm.
  • Houston Jazz Festival: Diunna Greenleaf & Eric Gales at the Rustic Downtown – The fourth and final night of Houston Jazz Festival wraps up with Houston-native Diunna Greenleaf and Eric Gales taking the stage at the Downtown outpost of the Rustic. The Mighty Orq and Mathias Lattin open. $35. 6pm.
  • ZZ Top in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Houston’s own true southern rock band, ZZ Top, is coming home on their Raw Whisky Tour in support of their unique newest release, Raw: ‘That Lil Ol’ Band from Texas’, that also serves as tribute to the late vocalist and bassist, Dusty Hill. $22 and up. 6:30pm.
  • Comedian Wanda Sykes at Bayou Music Center – The iconic comic most recently dropped her full-length stand-up special, Not Normal on Netflix, and now heads through the Downtown stage for a night of new material. $39 and up. 7pm.
  • Cairokee in Concert at Warehouse Live – The revolutionary Egyptian rock band makes a stop in East Downtown, bringing their protest songs and politically-inspired lyrics to the stage. $40 and up. 7pm.
  • Diana Krall in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – The Grammy-winning jazz vocalist and pianist makes a special stop in Sugar Land while on her 2022 tour. $49.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Sunday Supper Pop-Up Series at Sunday Press Cafe & Coffee – Continuing its Sunday Supper pop-up series, which highlights female chefs and hopes to bridge the gap between women in hospitality and women’s healthcare, Sunday Press will welcome Chef Linda Nguyen of Roostar and Chef Thy Mitchell of Traveler’s Table, who will collaborate to present a Vietnamese menu. Proceeds from the event will benefit I’ll Have What She’s Having, the Houston-based non-profit aiming to improve health in the hospitality industry and support women’s entrepreneurship in the food and beverage industry. $150. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Dead Poet Society in Concert at House of Blues – The alt indie rockers land in Downtown Houston for a House of Blues performance supporting their album, -!-.$17. 8pm.
  • Pepe Aguilar in Concert at Toyota Center – The iconic multi-Grammy winning singer-songwriter is joined by his brother Antonio and children Ángela and Leonardo for a family-filled performance featuring 40 musicians with bull riding and rodeo touches. $40 and up. 8pm.
