- 52nd Annual Original Greek Festival at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral | Daily – Featuring Greek music, food, and folk dancing—plus an Athenian playground for the kids—Houston’s longest running Greek Festival is fun for all age. $5; free to ages 5 and under; free for everyone on Friday from 11am to 3pm. - Oktoberfest Celebrations Around Greater Houston | Daily – Every year brings more and more Oktoberfest celebrations to Houston. With many celebrations around the city, you’re sure to find the perfect spot to hoist a brew. Locations, dates, and times vary.
- 7th Annual Texas Contemporary Art Fair at George R. Brown Convention Center | Daily – Browse amongst massive amounts of modern artwork from more than 75 exhibitors to find your perfect pieces to add to your home, office, or collection. Or simply browse the curiosities and take in the people-watching opportunities Tickets start at $25, but limited comped (you just pay the ticketing fee) and discounted $10 tickets are available. Times vary.
- Family Friendly Haunted House at National Museum of Funeral History | Daily – Brave the spooky walk through this family-friendly haunted house at the National Museum of Funeral History, where guests can enjoy a lighthearted view of the often-serious subject of funerals. $5. Times vary.
- The Catastrophic Theatre presents Sam Shepard’s Curse of the Starving Class at MATCH | Daily – See the opening performance of Catastrophic Theatre’s 2018-2019 season as they present Curse of the Starving Class, a harrowing stage play by Pulitzer Prize-winner Sam Shepard, at MATCH. Tickets start at $10 and all performances are “Pay-what-you-can.” Times vary.
- 39th Annual Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Immerse yourself in a cultural celebration of all things Chicano music, featuring sub-genres ranging from Tejano and Conjunto to Mariachi and Orchestra, when Miller Outdoor Theatre hosts the 39th Annual Festival Chicano. 7pm every night.
- Exit Strategy at Rec Room | Thursday to Saturday – Take a seat for Exit Strategy, a comedic thriller than follows a group of students and teachers whose public high school will close at the end of the year. Tickets are $30 for general admission; $15 for students and $40 for opening night. Thursday 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday 8pm.
- Snoop Dog in Redemption of a Dogg at Hobby Center | Friday to Sunday – This adaptation of Snoop Dogg‘s own life, set against a backdrop of the rapper’s greatest hits, as well as songs from his recently released chart-topping gospel album, Bible of Love. $60 to $125, but limited discounted tickets start at $50.75. Showtimes vary.
- Mr. Booker T. at the Door at Midtown Art Center | Friday to Sunday – Experience Houston’s first theatrical performance focused on the historical figure and iconic African American educator, Booker T. Washington, in Vincent Victoria’s world premiere of Mr. Booker T. at the Door at Midtown Art Center. Tickets start at $20. Times vary.
- Keep It Brassy 2 at Music Box Theater | Friday to Sunday – Tap your feet to a slew of classics from iconic bands, such as Chicago, Billy Joel, and Ray Charles, at this musical cabaret presented by Music Box Theatre. As the name suggests, the house band will be backed by a trumpet, saxophone, and trombone for extra, brassy flair. Tickets start at $29, but limited discounted $14.50 tickets are available for select shows. 7:30pm every night.
- 5th Annual Pearland Art & Crafts at Pearland Town Center | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Admire the works of regional artists during the annual Pearland Arts & Crafts festival at Pearland Town Center. Presented by the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau, the craft fair offers plenty of shopping, live music, and art-centric activities. 10am to 5pm both days, rain or shine.
- Saint Arnold Oktoberfest | Saturday and Sunday – Don your dirndl, lederhosen, and other German garb for Saint Arnold’s annual Oktoberfest celebration in their German-style beer hall. While listening to live polka music, you can enjoy a German-inspired meal and sip Saint Arnold brews from a commemorative Oktoberfest glass boot. $50 per day. Times vary.

The two-day event includes an opening reception and Q&A sessions to supplement the featured films. Tickets start at $15. 4pm.
- Vanessa Williams in Concert: 50th Anniversary Season Education Celebration at TUTS – Enjoy an intimate concert by multi-platinum singer Vanessa Williams while raising funds to benefit several of TUTS’ educational programs during the theatre company’s annual Education Celebration. Tickets start at $300. 6pm.
- Houston Rockets vs. Indiana Pacers at Toyota Center – Cheer loud for the Rockets when they hit the court to play the Pacers in a preseason game at Toyota Center. Tickets start at $10, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- True Crime Podcast Small Town Murder at House of Blues – Small Town Murder, a true crime podcast that consists of comedians James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman, comes to the House of Blues for the Shut Up and Give Me Murder!! Tour. Join Pietragallo and Whisman as they discuss a small town and a murder that takes place there. Tickets range from $25 to $35. 7pm.
- J Balvin in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – Get the party started at a concert by Colombian superstar J Balvin, who sings hits such as “I Like It,” “Mi Gente,” and “Ay Vamos,” when he takes the stage at Smart Financial Centre. Tickets start at $39, but you may find cheaper or better seats on the TicketNetwork resale marketplace. 8pm.
- Backyard Jams featuring Marmalakes in Concert at Market Square Park | FREE – Close out the summer Backyard Concert Series with an outdoor show by Austin-based Marmalakes and openers Mantra Love at Market Square Park. 7pm to 10pm.
