- La Belle et le Bête at Moores Opera House | Daily – Blending opera and film, this classic 1946 Jean Cocteau movie based on Beauty and the Beast gets a new interpretation with music by Philip Glass. $25. Thursday to Saturday 7:30pm; Sunday 2pm.
- Barrett-Jackson Collection Car Auction at NRG Center | Thursday to Saturday – Car lovers of all ages can appreciate this auction which also features celebrity appearances, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides in the latest vehicles from America’s top automakers, and an Exhibitor Marketplace. $15 and up. - Houston Symphony presents Itzhak Perlman Plays Beethoven at Jones Hall | Thursday, Saturday & Sunday – The world-renowned violinist joins the Houston Symphony for a concert featuring some of Beethoven’s masterpieces. $29 and up. Times vary.
- 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Party at Wakefield Crowbar | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – You’ll find German-style beers and bites, a stein hoisting competition, and a best-dressed contest on Friday. Sand volleyball and cornhole tournaments take place on Saturday. Times vary.
- 40th Annual Galveston Oktoberfest at First Lutheran Church | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – This family-friendly event features free entertainment, food, rides and games. Traditional German food and drink and a slate of polka performances are also part of the festivities. Times vary.
- The Riot Comedy Show presents Tom Thakkar at Rudyard’s British Pub | Friday & Saturday – The upstairs comedy room in Montrose hosts comedian Tom Thakkar on his return to Houston. The comic has been featured on Comedy Central’s Stand Up Presents, Conan, and as host of his podcast series, Stand-Up with Tom Thakkar. $17 and up. Times vary.
- Southern Smoke Festival at Multiple Locations | Friday to Sunday – From an opening night barbecue welcome wagon to a high-end raw bar experience and a sampling of culinary stars, the Southern Smoke Festival returns this weekend with three nights of showcases featuring more than 60 of the country’s best chefs—all to help fund-raise in support of food and beverage workers in crisis nationwide.
