- 48th Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta – One of the five largest races in the country, the 15-mile Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta travels from West Houston to Allen’s Landing in Downtown Houston. $55 per paddler through Thursday, March 5, 2020; $60 same-day registration. $25 with valid student or military ID and $10 for members of BBP’s young professional group, The Currents. 7:30am to 2:30pm.
- On the Bay with Jeff Corwin at Moody Gardens – Venture out with Jeff Corwin this Spring Break at Moody Gardens with opportunities for a morning cruise, a viewing of his new film along with a presentation and Q&A sessions as they learn about the bay. Tickets are $40 per person and includes grab and go breakfast. 9am to 11am.
- Are You Sure of Your Shorebirds? at San Luis Pass County Park – Review the lifestyle, behavior, and identification techniques of species within the avian taxonomical group known as shorebirds at San Luis Pass County Park in Galveston. Afterward, take a field trip on the beach so you can practice your newly learned identification skills. Tickets are $25 per person; $20 for Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council members. 9am to noon.
- Hatha Yoga at Discovery Green | FREE − Take a basic vinyasa yoga class for enhanced awareness and a strong, healthy body at Discovery Green park. 9am to 10am.
- Chalk on the Block at Baldwin Park | FREE − Experience local artists creating pavement art on the sidewalks around Baldwin Park. 10am to 2pm.
- Greater Heights Crawfish Festival at 20th and Ashland | No Cover – Head to 411 West 20th Street for the annual Greater Heights Crawfish Festival, starting with a festive parade down 20th and 19th streets and ending with the festival, where food and fun await. Gates to the festival open at 10:30am, and guests can expect mudbugs, corn, and potatoes alongside beer, drinks, and festival fare, plus vendors from clothing and jewelry to art and more. Admission is free, but guests can pre-purchase Crawfish Festival Bucks. 10:30am to 6pm.
- 2020 Houston Black Heritage Music & Arts Festival at Midtown Park − Midtown Park hosts the fifth Houston Black Heritage Music & Arts Festival, a celebration of African American culture expressed through art, music, education, poetry, food, and community. Attendees will enjoy cultural festivities planted within themed villages centered around empowerment, health and wellness, cultural arts and more. Tickets are $25; $5 for ages 9 to 12; free for ages 8 and under; VIP tickets are $75. Noon to 7pm.
- Houston Roughnecks vs. Seattle Dragons at TDECU Stadium – Off to a hot start in the XFL, the Roughnecks host a West Division opponent at TDECU Stadium. Tickets start at $24, but you may find cheaper or better seats at TicketNetwork’s online resale market. 1pm.
- Understanding Plumage Variations at San Luis Pass County Park – Discuss the reasons for plumage variations; how molting can affect identification; and color changes of bills, lores, legs, and feet at San Luis County Park in Galveston. Tickets are $25 person; $20 for Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council members. 1pm to 4pm.
- Break Free Hip Hop School at Children’s Museum of Houston – Kick-off Spring Break with the Break Free Hip Hop School crew at Children’s Museum of Houston Get down to a high-energy hip-hop performance by the local dance students. Included with general admission to the museum. 3pm to 3:30pm.
- Superhero Saturdays at the Roller Rink at Discovery Green − Skate with your favorite superhero at Discovery Green’s Roller Rink in Downtown. Tickets are $8 to skate and $4 for skate rental. 4pm to 6pm.
- Opening Reception for Larry Garmezy’s Mostly Water, Some Rock Exhibition at Archway Gallery | FREE – Enjoy complimentary vino and light bites at the debut of Garmezy’s photography exhibit showcasing the unique and subtle patterns and textures hidden in the details of nature’s recesses. 5pm to 8pm.
- Tasty Cajun Butter Tasting at Pacific Yard House | No Cover – Tasty Cajun Butter comes to Downtown Conroe’s Pacific Yard House for tasting samples and giveaways. There will be plenty of crawfish and drink special. 5pm to 9pm.
- Epic Blaze in Concert at Pleasure Pier – Head to the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier for a live concert by Epic Blaze at their Stage 25. Included with general admission to the Pleasure Pier. 5pm to 9pm.
- Houston Rodeo: Maren Morris in Concert at NRG Stadium – The Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter takes the stage, coming off her 2019 world tour that supported her second album, Girl. Tickets start at $20, but you may be able to find tickets on TicketNetwork’s online resale market. 6:45pm.
- Movie Nite on The Strand: Aladdin at Saengerfest Park | FREE – Grab your chairs, blankets, and pillows, and head to Downtown Galveston for a free family-friendly movie screening of Disney’s live-action, Aladdin. 7pm.
- Dancing with the Stars: Live! Tour 2020 at Smart Financial Centre − Dancing with the Stars: Live! comes to Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, bringing an all-new production showcasing from audiences’ favorite dancers from the ABC television show. The show will feature every type of dance style ranging from tango to foxtrot, cha-cha to the waltz, and more. Tickets range from $55 to $95, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale website. 7:30pm.
- Ladypalooza Tribute Concert with Just Like P!NK, Nightbird, and Alaniz at House of Blues | FREE with RSVP – Pay tribute to some of the most influential women in pop and rock at Ladypalooza, a concert featuring Just Like P!NK, a tribute to P!NK, Nightbird, a tribute to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, and Alaniz, a tribute to Alanis Morissette at House of Blues. - FotoFest Biennial 2020 at Silver Street | FREE – FotoFest hosts the opening of its 2020 Biennial exhibition and programs centered around the theme of African Cosmologies: Photography, Time, and the Other, with a focus on artists of Africa and the global African diaspora. There will be complimentary valet parking, music, and refreshments. 8pm to 11pm.
- Trippie Redd in Concert: Love Me More Tour at Revention Music Center − Hip hop artist Trippie Redd, best known for his hits “Dark Knight Dummo” and “Topanga”, brings his Love Me More Tour to Revention Music Center. - Funky Brunch & Heights Morning Market at Onion Creek Cafe | No Cover − Onion Creek Cafe throws a weekly Sunday brunch, featuring live DJ tunes, drink specials, and a shopping opportunities at the Heights Morning Market. The outdoor market features local goods and products, including clothing, gourmet goods, jewelry, arts and crafts, home goods and more. 10am to 2pm.
- International Women’s Day Market at Cuchara Restaurant | No Cover – Cuchara hosts an International Women’s Day outdoor market to showcase female vendors and celebrate women. Shop for clothing, jewelry, candles, botanical gifts, food and more. 10am to 4pm.
- BrisketU Backyard Pitmaster Class at True Anomaly Brewing – True Anomaly Brewing hosts BrisketU’s Backyard Pitmaster class, the original introductory class designed and formulated to teach the average BBQ lover how to work a pit and create the quintessential smoked brisket. In this class for greenhorns and experienced grillers alike, students will learn from accomplished pitmasters the art of smoking brisket from start to finish. You must register for this class. 11am to 2pm.
- Houston Cougars vs. Memphis Tigers at Fertitta Center – The Coogs wrap up their men’s basketball season with a matchup against the Memphis Tigers in a bid to head into March Madness with a nationally-ranked squad. - Sunday 2K Classic at Drink of Ages | No Cover − Join the Sunday 2K Classic, where participants stop by Drink of Ages for a beer, run and/or walk down Waugh Drive toward Rudyard’s to grab another drink, then make their way back to Drink of Ages. - The Illusionists: Live from Broadway at Smart Financial Centre – The world’s best-selling magic show, The Illusionists comes to Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land. This mind blowing spectacular showcases the jaw dropping talents of some of the most incredible Illusionists on earth. - Jill Scott in Concert at Revention Music Center – The Grammy-nominated debut album, Who Is Jill Scott?, gets a 20th-anniversary celebration when the acclaimed R&B singer stops by Downtown’s Revention Music Center. Tickets start at $62, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
- The Gumbo Jam at Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge – The Gumbo Jam is a Louisiana-inspired jam session, hosted by Matthew Hartnett, with a serious emphasis on horns, and all things funky and groovy. Singers, rappers, poets, musicians, and horn players join in the loose laid back vibe of Team Horn Section and The Gumbo Band. There is plenty of dancing and actual gumbo available to eat. Cover is $5 at the door, free for participating artists or with a social media post tagging The Gumbo Jam. Doors at 8pm.
