  • Hot Mistletoe Pub Run on Washington Avenue – Pull together a themed costume for Christmas in July and lace up for this pub run that hits Taps House Of Beer, Little J’s, Porch Swing Pub, Luke’s Icehouse and Kung Fu Saloon. $35 online and $45 in cash on the day of the run. 11am to 4pm.
  • 2nd annual Dog Days of Summer at Gillman Subaru of Houston North | FREE – Dogs and their owners enjoy treats, giveaways and food as they compete for top honors in five categories: cutest dog, ugliest dog, best trick, best costume or dog and owner look-alike. KPRC Local 2’s Ruben Galvan will pick the winners. Families will also enjoy a video gaming trailer, face painting, a rock climbing wall and more. 11am to 2pm.
  • Madame Rosalie’s Festivus at Rosalie’s Haus Co-Op in Midtown – Revel ti live music from Houston artists including Space Villians, Las Lechuguillas, Kosé and Ornaments. $5 donation includes drinks. Noon to 8pm.
  • Saturday Sculpt with Dan Perez at Empire Café | FREE to participate – Join Dan and kids of all ages and learn about sculpting. Sculpting tools, clay and armatures will be available for use. 1pm to mid afternoon.
  • Stone Temple Pilots, Chester Bennington and Blue October in Concert at the Weenie Roast in the Woodlands – Join headliners as well as 10 Years, Semi Precious Weapons, and J. Roddy Walston and the Business at this all-day party at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion. Discounted tickets may be available. 4:30pm.
  • Guns and Oil Brewing Company Houston Launch Party at Kung Fu Saloon | FREE to attend – Try out the new Maverick Lager from upstart Guns and Oil Brewing and enjoy a free show by the Cody Bryan Band. 5pm to 10pm.
  • Third Ward Community Night Market & Talent Showcase at Project Row Houses | FREE – Spend an evening under the night sky and twinkling lights of the Row Houses with music, art vendors and more at the first of this free monthly summer art market. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Flea by Night at Discovery Green | FREE – Browse for treasures, enjoy food truck bites and people watch at this outdoor market in Downtown. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Houston Roller Derby Bout at Bayou Music Center – Catch a double header as the girls of the Brawlers battle the Bayou City Bosses and The Valkyries swoop down on the Psych Ward Sirens. The afterparty happens at Lucky’s Pub in the Heights. $15; free for kids 5 and under. 7pm to 10:30pm.
  • Julydoscope 2014 at Discovery Green | FREE – Experience dance performances from five different companies followed by a screening of the Oscar-winning documentary Twenty Feet From Stardom. 7pm; film at 8:45pm
  • Houston Dynamo vs. Toronto FC at BBVA Compass Stadium – In the afterglow of the World Cup excitement, the boys in orange will see red as Toronto takes the field. $24 and up; discounted tickets or better seats maybe available on TicketNetwork’s resale market. 8pm.
  • Hema Malini’s Ballet Durga at the Wortham Center – Take the pageantry, elaborate costumes, music by Ravindra Jain and the Hindi cinema star Hema Malini in this one-night-only performance. $30 to $175. 8pm.
  • More Great Things to Do All Weekend Long – Some of the biggest things happening in Houston this weekend are happening all weekend long.
