- HSLR’s World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at NRG Park | Thursday to Saturday – Come hungry for this three-day barbecue contest, which pits more than 250 teams up against each other every year at NRG Park. For those who can’t score an invite to the more exclusive tents, you can check out The Garden, Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon, or the Chuck Wagon, which are all open to the public. - Mamma Mia! at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts | Daily – Experience an evening of music, dancing, and laughter when the Tony Award-winning musical Mamma Mia!, lights up the stage at Hobby Center. Featuring the music of ABBA, the play tells of a young bride who begins to seek answers about the identity of her father. You’ll prep bacon-wrapped, stuffed jalapeños; tacos al Albañil, frijoles a la charra, avocado, and heirloom tomato salad with cilantro-lime vinaigrette; and Aztec chocolate lava cakes with candied bacon. $60. 6:30pm to 9pm.
- Reel Forces at MATCH – Explore themes of humanity, memory, and conflict during MUSIQA’s mesmerizing film, Beyond Zero: 1914-1918. Featuring music by a string quartet, the film offers rare footage archived from WWI and produced by auteur-director Bill Morrison. Tickets are pay-what-you-can. 7pm.
