  • Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting at Nothing Bundt Cakes | FREE – The popular bakery, known for its bundt cakes that are crafted with love in a variety of sizes, opens a new store in the Heights. Be among the first to check it out. 4pm.
  • Catholic Beer Club at St. Arnold Brewing Co. | No Cover – Come out to the Downtown brewery to join other Catholic young adults for networking and friendship. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy a wide variety of St. Arnold brews. 6pm.
  • TUTS Spotlight Series: Dear Evan Hansen at the Ion | FREE – The Broadway smash launches its national tour in Houston next month. Learn more about the musical, its themes and impacts in this behind-the-scenes discussion. You’ll learn exciting details about the show, and enjoy performances from the production, meet special guests, and test your knowledge with trivia. Registration required. 6pm.
  • Cline Cellars Dinner at The Lymbar – Enjoy a five-course dinner created by Lymbar chef and owner David Cordúa, each paired with a different wine from Cline Cellars, one of Sonoma’s most-celebrated wineries. Dishes include duck mole negro paired with Cline Zinfandel and chicken fried oysters with Cline Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. $110. 6:30pm.
  • Hari Kunzru at the Menil Collection | FREE – The author reads from his new book, Blue Ruin, which masterfully weaves through time, painting an extraordinary portrait of an artist as he reconnects with his past and faces the world he once cherished but ultimately left behind. The reading is followed by conversation with author Rosa Boshier González. 7pm.
  • Meiji Dances at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston | FREE – Inspired by the exhibition Meiji Modern: Fifty Years of New Japan, the movements in Meiji Dances intertwine traditional Japanese dance forms with contemporary vocabularies and reflect the collision and integration of Western influences. 7pm to 8pm.
  • Stone Temple Pilots in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The group known for songs like “Plush” and “Sour Girl” was one of the 1990’s most successful bands. Hear their distinct sound and why they’re still a popular music choice in this live concert. $29.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Comedian Sam Jay at Houston Improv – The American comic and writer for Saturday Night Live comes to Houston for a live performance. Audiences know her from her comedy special, 3 in the Morning on Netflix, and Bust Down on Peacock. $80 for four, and up. 7:30pm.
  • Future & Metro Boomin in Concert at Toyota Center – Future and the Grammy-nominated producer Metro Boomin keep the summer hot when they bring music from their recent collab to H-Town on the We Trust You Tour. $49 and up. 8pm.
  • Billy Wayne Davis at The Secret Group – A finalist on Last Comic Standing, and seen on specials like Comedy Central’s Tales From the Trip, the Tennessee comedian swings through EaDo for a one night–only set. $15 and up. 8pm.
  • Danny Avila DJ Set at Stereo Live – The Spanish house and electro-house DJ with singles like “Cream” and “Too Good to Be True” comes to Houston to help you groove the night away. $19.99. 8pm. 
  • Texas Eagles in Concert at Post Houston – Come Downtown and enjoy this cover band, performing all your favorite hits by The Eagles. It’s a chance to take in the Houston Skyline, get food and drink from Post’s vendors and listen to great tunes. $20. 8pm to 10pm.

  • Remembering & Honoring the Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment at Memorial Park – In this annual Park Conversations Audio Experience, you can be among the first to experience the month-long interactive audio exhibition, listening to the words of descendants and community members whose reflections humanize this tragedy. Refreshments and entertainment are available. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Artisan Ravioli Making at Spindle Tap Brewery – Tap into your inner chef as you craft delicious stuffed pasta. You’ll learn tricks of the trade as you make a creamy spinach and tomato Tuscan sauce. When you’re finished, stay for a brew. $50. 6:30pm.
  • Friday Night Lights Movie Screening at TMC Helix Park | FREE – Head to the Medical Center to relive the highs and lows of high school football in Odessa, Texas, with a screening of this 2004 movie based on the book by H.G. Bissinger. There’s freshly popped popcorn, candies and drinks. 6:30pm. 
  • Volleyball Social at Wakefield Crowbar | FREE – Come out to Garden Oaks, where you can meet with other volleyball lovers and learn how to play. All levels of player are welcome, from newbies to seasoned players. 6:30pm.
  • Backside: A Skateboard Art Show at Hardy & Nance Studios | FREE – Dozens of Houston artists will design over 100 skateboards, and you can watch. This is a chance to watch art happen in real time, and see myriad expressions of creativity. 7pm.
  • Candle Making Workshop at Pop Shop America – Come up to the Heights and learn to craft your own custom candle, creating your own scents and styles. All supplies are provided, so bring friends and get ready for a fun DIY evening. $38.97. 7pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. Orlando Pride at Shell Energy Stadium – Come out and cheer on the home team as the Dash host the team from Florida. Soccer legend Marta is playing for the Pride, so it’s a chance to see a powerhouse on the pitch. $12 and up. 7pm.
  • Rare Rioja Dinner at Guard & Grace – The upscale, Downtown restaurant hosts this evening of beautiful Spanish wines. It’s an opportunity to sample some of the rarest and best examples of Spanish winemaking, along with a five-course dinner crafted by the restaurant’s chefs. $295. 7pm.
  • Sammy Hagar in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The singer and guitarist who rose to prominence in the early 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose, and later went on to worldwide fame as a member of Van Halen, takes the stage for a live performance. Expect a show of hits from across his 50-year career. $35 and up. 7pm.
  • Junior H in Concert at Toyota Center – The Mexican singer-songwriter crafts his own brand of corridos tumbados by blending corridos with trap music, and will bring that and more to the stage with his new album, Sad Boyz 4 Life II. $59 and up. 8pm.
  • Justin Ross & Deadwood Revival in Concert at Goode Company Armadillo Palace – The rock act out of Fort Worth, with a sound that meshes Rock, Pop, Country, Delta Blues, Funk and more comes to Houston to perform live. $15 and up. 8pm.
  • Phat Cat Swinger & the Wonderful World of Swing at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Come out to Hermann Park to enjoy 90 minutes of original arrangements of Disney music. Expect swing, cha cha, and mambo to classics like “Wish Upon a Star” from Pinocchio, “Be Prepared” from The Lion King, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Bella Notte” from Lady and the Tramp, and more. 8:30pm.
  • Aaron Lee Tasjan in Concert at Continental Club – The artist, known for his distinct version of “indie folk grit,” comes to the Midtown club for this Friday night show. For 20 years, his songs of life and love have captivated fans all over the country. $20. 9pm.
  • Desert Hearts Takeover at Noto – The EaDo nightspot hosts a tribute to house, techno, and EDM, with DJ sets from Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Porky. $15. 9pm. 
  • Magic, Music & Mayhem at Four Seasons Hotel – Ben Jackson’s live one-man show features unexplainable sleight-of-hand magic, feats of the mind, and dazzling piano playing. Come Downtown for this incredible experience. $55. 9pm.
