  • Taco Tuesday Team-Up featuring Riel at Tacos A Go Go | Tuesday, September 8 – In support of local eateries, with a focus on women-owned restaurants, Tacos A Go Go’s four locations are offering a one-of-a-kind taco collaboration for a month-long Taco Tuesday special. This month features a taco creation from Riel owner Mechelle Tran and chef Ryan Lachaine, available for $3.99. Hours vary per location.
  • Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers: NBA Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals on TNT | Tuesday, September 8 to Saturday, September 12 – Cheer on the Rockets as they battle it out against LeBron James and the LA Lakers in pivotal games 3, 4, and 5 of a best-of-seven Western Conference Semifinal playoff matchup, broadcast live on TNT. Times vary.
  • Houston Center for Photography presents Keeper of the Hearth on Zoom | Thursday, September 10 | FREE – Check out a virtual opening reception of HCP’s fall exhibition, Keeper of the Hearth: Picturing Roland Barthes’ Unseen Photograph, which features a panel discussion with artist Odette England as well as four other contributors. Space is limited, so you must register to attend. 6:30pm to 8pm.
  • Galveston Historical Foundation & Preservation Houston: Houston Deco Live Talk on Facebook Live | Thursday, September 10 | FREE – Explore the Art Deco heritage of Downtown Houston, Galveston, and Beaumont with authors and photographers David Bush and Jim Parsons in this illustrated talk that draws from images of the late ’20s and ’50s, showcasing beautiful architecture across the region. 7pm to 8:30pm.
  • Apollo Chamber Players’ 20×2020 Virtual Festival Episode 5: String Quartet No. 2 Texas and Episode 6: String Quartet No. 2 Obala | Thursday, September 10 and Sunday, September 13 | FREE – Episodes 5 and 6 of a twenty-part performance series drop this week, featuring original pieces by Arthur Hernandez on Thursday and Alexandra du Bois on Sunday, along with a special dance performance by Houston Ballet’s Oliver Halkowich. 7pm both days.
  • Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Movie Screening at City Acre Brewing Co. | Friday, September 11 | FREE – Hit the sprawling outdoor patio at City Acre Brewing for a socially distanced movie screening of the timeless comedy about three friends on one last adventure before graduation, complete with a special movie night menu and cocktails. This event is free, but you must make a reservation. 8pm to 10pm.
  • Reopening of the Menil Collection | Saturday, September 12 | FREE – Rejoice for the highly-anticipated reopening of a beloved Houston art museum, the Menil Collection. Guests will adhere to public safety protocols and must make a reservation to attend ahead of visiting. 11am to 7pm.
  • Second Saturday at Spring Street Studios | Saturday, September 12 | No Cover – Explore more than 350 open art studios in Houston’s historic First Ward while sipping craft brews and checking out an outdoor makers market. Masks are required to enter buildings. Noon to 7pm.
  • NWSL Fall Series: Houston Dash vs. North Carolina Courage on KHOU-11 – Tune in as Houston’s own Champions Cup winners kick off their NWSL Fall Series against the North Carolina Courage in an away game broadcast on Houston’s local CBS affiliate. 2:30pm.
  • Rooftop Drive-In Concert with Night Drive & The Vapor Caves at Axelrad | Saturday, September 12 – Hit up Midtown for a drive-in concert experience set atop the scenic roof of Axelrad, transmitted straight to your FM radio. Synth-pop trio Night Drive and modern funk outfit The Vapor Caves will perform. Tickets start at $30 per vehicle. 6:30pm to 10:30pm.
  • Drive-In Movie Screening of A Night at the Museum at Shady Acres Saloon with HMNS | Saturday, September 12 – Check out a drive-in screening of the 2006 action-packed, family-friendly film and score exclusive offers from the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Spaces are available for 15 vehicles per screening. Tickets are $30 per vehicle. 6:30pm and 8:55pm.
  • Archway Gallery’s Reinvention Virtual Artist Talk with Barbara Able & Daniel Able | Saturday, September 12 | FREE – Hear from mother-and-son artists, Barbara Able and Daniel Able, whose latest works were created in response to COVID-19 and will be featured in the gallery’s September exhibit, Reinvention. The event premieres at 6:30pm and the exhibit will be on view from Saturday, September 5 through Thursday, October 1, 2020. 6:30pm.
  • Numbers Nightclub presents Virtual 42nd Anniversary Party On Twitch | Saturday, September 12 – Commemorate 42 years of club hits spinning at Montrose’s staple nightclub, Numbers, when they host a virtual dance party celebration. Donations of $25 are requested; tickets for virtual tables range from $50 to $600. 8:30pm.
  • Houston Restaurant Weeks 2020 | Daily – Now extended through the end of September 2020, Houston Restaurant Weeks brings another month of doing good with good eats. Complete with new takeout options, HRW2020 offers up multi-course, fixed-price menus at almost 200 establishments around greater Houston. For every meal sold, $1 will be donated to Houston Food Bank. $20 lunches and brunches; $35 or $45 for dinners.
