Get out and show your enthusiasm for Star Wars and the Galaxy Far, Far Away, regardless of age with events, celebrations, parties and possibilities across the greater Space City.
Once just a punny turn of phrase, May the fourth has become the officially unofficial holiday for fans of the Star Wars saga (“May the fourth be with you”). Fresh on the heels of the new cast announcement for the first ever sequel to the original Star Wars trilogy, Star Wars Day is upon us in Houston. With options across the city for fans big and small.
- Star Wars Day at Space Center Houston – Explore Star Wars-related physics activities, which include building your own “balloon-saber,” crafting LED creations and learning to feel the “force” of magnetism. Guests can also catch an indoor laser light show and catch a Star Wars panel discussion at noon with Industrial Light and Magic Artists Dan Bais and Kim Smith. 10am to 3pm.
- Star Wars Day at the Galleria Disney Store | FREE – The first 100 visitors of the day will receive free Star Wars pins and young aspiring Jedi will receive instruction in the ways of the Force at 12:30pm.
- 3rd Annual Star Wars Art Festival on Washington Avenue – War’Hous Visual Studios and Dandee Warhol celebrate the Galaxy Far, Far Away with an art exhibition showcasing hundreds of pieces of original Star Wars art. Families and costumes are welcome. 2pm to 7pm.
- Let the Wookiee Win: Star Wars Trivia Quiz at Baker Street Pub in Rice Village – Continue the Star Wars Day celebration by showing your mastery of minutia from the original Star Wars Trilogy at the official Geeks Who Drink trivia challenge. Organizers promise that questions will only be focused on the original trilogy of Star Wars films (including one question from the dreaded holiday special) and that no prequel knowledge will be required. 6pm.
- Mixers and Elixers: May the Fourth Be With You at MFAH – Kiss a wookiee and mingle to music from Bombón while living it up in your Sith, Jedi or gold bikini finery. Discount tickets are available via Living Social. 7pm to 10pm.
- Dig deep into the Force with Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV Series on Netflix – If you’re the type that would rather pay homage in the comfort of your own home, Netflix now has about 44 hours of original Star Wars content available on demand.
