Take in one or more of the traditional, raucous, and family-friendly Mardi Gras events in Houston and along the beach in Galveston through Fat Tuesday, February 21, 2023. 

Pile on the beads as Mardi Gras festivites level up this year with parades, parties and concerts returning to eager crowds ready for revelry.

Mardi Gras headquarters is in Galveston, which celebrates its 112th celebration with balcony parties, live music and other official events stretched across two weekends and Fat Tuesday.

But there’s plenty more Mardi Gras fun to be had around Greater Houston and Galveston. We’ve gathered just some of the upcoming celebrations for you to “laissez les bons temps rouler.”

Mardi Gras 2023 Events in Houston & Galveston 

  • 112th Mardi Gras! Galveston | Friday, February 10 to Fat Tuesday, February 21 – Over 3 million beads will be thrown at Texas’ largest Mardi Gras celebration, with the lineup of festivities including elaborate parades, headliner performances and concerts, balcony parties, masked balls, an official 5K run, family events, and plenty of feasting across two weekends and on Fat Tuesday. $14.50 and up; free for ages 12 and under. Times vary.
  • Mardi Gras Celebration at Kemah Boardwalk | Saturday, February 11 | FREE – Kemah hosts an all-day Mardi Gras kickoff with a celebration featuring beads, live music, kids’ crafts and a boat parade that sails past at 7pm. Noon to 8pm.
  • Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas in Downtown Beaumont | Thursday, February 16 to Sunday, February 19 – Downtown Beaumont hosts multiple days of Mardi Gras revelry, with parades and live concerts from Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Lil’ Keke, Uncle Kracker and more. Plus, try your hand at carnival games, hop on rides, and enjoy other family-friendly fun all weekend long. Single day tickets start at $10; $50 for a 4-day pass. Times vary.
  • Mardi Gras Brunch & Live Music at B&B Butcher’s & Restaurant | Saturday, February 18 – Dig into a festive brunch to kick off Mardi Gras at the Washington Ave eatery and butchery, where you can enjoy New Orleans-inspired dishes, specialty cocktails, face painting, dueling pianos and special swag. Menu prices vary. 11am to 3pm.
  • Mardi Gras Crawfish Boil at Truck Yard Houston | Saturday, February 18 | No Cover – In EaDo, Truck Yard hosts a Cajun crawfish boil with New Orleans-inspired cocktails, live music and more revelry all day long. Noon to 8pm.
  • Mardi Gras on Main in La Porte | Saturday, February 18 | FREE – Rolling into another year in downtown La Porte, Mardi Gras on Main promises an evening of fun, revelry and New Orleans–style flair—complete with roaming performers like stilt walkers, jugglers and more. Shop markets, catch a live performance by Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws, enjoy the annual Second Line parade and more festivities. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Party Gras at Sugar Land Town Square | Saturday, February 18 | FREE – The Sugar Land shopping and dining destination hosts an evening Mardi Gras party with tunes by Soul Rebels of NOLA and Houston’s own DJ Flash Gordon. Area restaurants will have special bites and beverages for the night, plus you can shop a local market, check out art cars, get into crafts and games for kids, and dive into king cake and oyster eating contests. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Mardi Gras Celebration at B-52 Brewing | Saturday, February 18 | No Cover – The Conroe brewery hosts a family-friendly Mardi Gras bash with Cajun cuisine from Space City Cajun, king cakes from Nola Girls Sweet Treats, live tunes by the On 3 Jazz Band, face-painting, craft brews and more. 5pm to 10pm.

Fat Tuesday, February 21, 2023

  • Fat Tuesday Mardi Craw at the Rustic Downtown | Fat Tuesday, February 21 | No Cover – The brunch spot and music hall goes all out with an all-day crawfish boil, drink features from Bacardi, Lone Star beer buckets and live music from Bayou Roux starting at 7pm. 11am to 11pm.
  • Fat Tuesday on the Plaza at City Place | Fat Tuesday, February 21 | FREE – The Spring shopping and dining hub celebrates Fat Tuesday with king cake from Common Bond (while supplies last), a Louisiana-style gumbo food truck, live music and other Mardi Gras fun. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Fat Tuesday at Watson House of Ales | Fat Tuesday, February 21 | No Cover – In the Energy Corridor, Watson’s adds a French twist to the English pub vibes with a Fat Tuesday celebration featuring hourly cart parades and tunes from DJ Thomas Williams. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Fat Tuesday at Brennan’s of Houston | Fat Tuesday, February 21 – The iconic Gulf Coast eatery from New Orleans offers a night of revelry with a three-course Mardi Gras dinner with choice of starter, entree and dessert. Sin City Drag Queens will provide the live jazz to go with the festive vibes. $79 per person. 5pm to 9pm.
