- ROCO Connections: Here, There & Nowhere at Asia Society Texas Center | Wednesday, March 22 – ROCO Violin virtuoso Min-Jeong Koh has curated a meaningful program of works featuring Asian composers that tell the story of his and his sister—pianist Bo Yon Koh—immigrating from their native Korea. $45; $15 for students. 7pm.
- Performing Arts Houston presents Our Planet: Live in Concert at Jones Hall | Wednesday, March 22 – The breathtaking Netflix documentary gets an entirely new treatment, accompanied by a live orchestra in an event that showcases the beauty and wonder of our natural world. A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund. $29 and up. 7:30pm.
- DaCamera presents Ensemble Intercontemporain in Concert at Stude Hall | Thursday, March 23 – The ensemble, which most recently was awarded the 2022 Polar Music Prize, arrives to Rice University for their Texas debut ahead of the group’s later appearance at Carnegie Hall. $37.50 and up. 7:30pm.
- Performing Arts Houston presents STOMP at Jones Hall | Thursday, March 23 to Sunday, March 26 – Unrelenting energy is the hallmark of this wildly popular percussion ensemble, making a stop in Houston to delight audiences with their precision playing, imaginative presentation and sheer joy of performing. $39 and up. - Gente de Teatro presents Plagio (Cheaters) at MATCH | Thursday, March 23 to Sunday, March 26 – The theater company celebrates its 28th anniversary with a Spanish-language performance about a novelist whose success story is placed in jeopardy when an unknown woman shows up at his door. $28; Sunday performance is $18. - A Spanish Night to Remember at MATCH | Friday, March 24 – This special gala and night of performances celebrates Spanish culture with flamenco performances and music, plus a paella dinner reception beforehand. Proceeds help support the redM organization, which works to fight human and sex trafficking. $65 for the performance; $120 for the gala reception and performances; $150 VIP. 7pm.
- Homenaje a la Mujer: A Tribute to Alice Valdez at MECA TBH Center | Friday, March 24 – A female-led cast of Mariachi MECA alumni and MECA Ballet Folklórico dancers present a wonderful tribute to Executive Director and Founder Alice Valdez, who has worked tirelessly to help the marginalized and underrepresented youth for more than forty years. $20. 7:30pm.
- Berklee Indian Ensemble at Wortham Center | Friday, March 24 – Following up a recent Grammy nomination for their debut album, Shuruaat, the ensemble brings its genre-bending sound to the Theater District stage. $18 and up. 8pm.
- Clyde’s at Ensemble Theatre | Friday, March 24 | Ongoing – For the formerly incarcerated employees who work at Clyde’s, the truck stop is a place for them to find purpose. Can they rebuild their lives and dreams of more when a callous owner tries to keep them under her thumb? This production runs through Sunday, April 16. $34 and up. Showtimes vary.
- 4th Wall Theatre Co. presents Sanctuary City at Spring Street Studios | Friday, March 24 | Ongoing – Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Martyne Majok explores the lives of two undocumented friends, trying to find a place for themselves and each other in a world filled with uncertainty. This production runs through Saturday, April 15. $32 and up. Showtimes vary.
- The Odyssey at Alley Theatre | Friday, March 24 | Ongoing – This new take on the epic story of Odysseus rings with Caribbean rhythms. Look for an adventure that includes rivals attempting to take Odysseus’ thrown, a trip to hell, stormy seas and more. This production runs through Sunday, April 16. $51 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Genji at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday, March 24 & Saturday, March 25 – Created in partnership with the Houston Ballet, this world premiere from Nao Kusuzaki is a retelling of the novel The Tale of Genji, an exploration of love, power and social class. $55. 7:30pm.
- DaCamera presents Stop, Look & Listen! at the Menil Collection | Saturday, March 25 | FREE – The free concert series returns to the Menil, offering a performance by the DaCamera Young Artists as they respond to the latest exhibition, The Curatorial Imagination of Walter Hopps. 3pm to 4pm.
- Nakatani Gong Orchestra in Concert at the Orange Show | Saturday, March 25 – Avant-garde percussionist, composer and artist Tatsuya Nakatani brings the Nakatani Gong Orchestra to the Gulfgate art headquarters. $20. 7pm to 9pm.
- Opera in the Heights presents Rigoletto at Lambert Hall | Saturday, March 25 | Ongoing – When court jester Rigoletto learns his daughter has been seduced by his master, his desire for revenge embroils all in a tragic melodrama with Verdi’s epic score as the backdrop. - Houston Latin American Philharmonic presents Romance at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, March 25 | FREE – Bursting with the rhythms of tango, danzón, cha-cha, ranchera, Bachata and more, this evening concert and dance program helps user in Miller Outdoor’s 100th season. 8pm.
- Mercury presents Tchaikovsky’s Serenade at Wortham Center | Saturday, March 25 – The chamber orchestra performs two pieces in the Theater District; Strauss’ Metamorphosis for 23 Solo Strings and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. $10 and up. 8pm.
- Ars Lyrica presents Clori, Tirsi e Fileno at Hobby Center | Sunday, March 26 – This work from Handel gets the Ars Lyrica treatment in the Theater District, offering spectacular arias that later found their way into the composer’s Italian operas. $25 and up. 4pm.
- World Ballet Series presents Cinderella at Wortham Center | Sunday, March 26 – A multinational cast of 40 professional ballet dancers gather to bring one of the most celebrated fairy tales to life, on the Wortham Center stage. $67 and up. 6pm.
