• 50th Annual Dickens on the Strand in Downtown Galveston | Friday to Sunday – Travel back in time as Galveston’s historic Strand is transformed into Charles Dickens’ Victorian London for this annual, family-friendly event. Gear up for parades, live entertainment on six stages, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers, and a visit from the characters of Dickens’ books. Free on Friday; Saturday and Sunday tickets are $25; $18 for ages 7 to 12. Times vary.

• Comedian EJ Speaks at Houston Improv – Best known for turning everyday life into hilarious sketches, EJ Speaks brings their comedy to the Spring Branch stage. $40 for 2, and up. 7:30pm.
• I’ve Had It Live at House of Blues – Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan of the I’ve Had It podcast bring their laugh-out-loud insights to the Downtown stage on the Hot Shit Tour. $35 and up. 8pm.

• The Annual Champagne & Caviar Dinner featuring Gosset & Altima at Rainbow Lodge – Enjoy a fine dining experience as you sample caviar paired with Champagnes from one of the oldest houses in France. You’ll learn about what makes both so special in this exclusive opportunity. $235 per person. 6pm.
• Nerdy Night Market at Neil’s Bahr | FREE – The last monthly market before the holidays arrives at the EaDo bar for all things nerdy. • Moon Taxi in Concert at Last Concert Cafe – The five-piece band from Nashville, known for their hit streaming single, “Two High” comes to Houston, bringing their signature sound that blends op hooks, clever synths and roots. $30. 8pm.

• Snowflake Snip & Sip at Galveston Arts Center | FREE – This Fezzywig Friday kickoff party celebrates the first night of Dickens on the Strand. Guests can enjoy free hot chocolate or BYOB while snipping paper snowflakes. All materials are provided and children must be accompanied by a guardian. 5:15pm to 7:15pm.
• Comedian Gary Gulman at House of Blues – The stand-up comedian and author, known for his 2020 special The Great Depresh, stops by House of Blues for a look into his latest book, Misfit, about growing up awkward in the ’80s. $36 and up. 6pm.
• Ray Jiang: Life Opening Reception at Sawyer Yards | FREE – Be among the first to see this solo exhibition featuring oil paintings on canvas by the Houston-based artist, whose work explores deeply felt themes such as life, love, death, sex and dreams with an approach between surrealism, minimalism and symbolism. 6pm to 8pm.

• A Katy Old Fashioned Christmas at Katy Market Day | FREE – The Katy Old Fashioned Christmas returns in a big way, bringing more than 200 vendors to the open-air market that also includes food trucks, an appearance by Santa, live entertainment, a beer garden, and more. 10am to 5pm.
• Pearls & Poinsettias Brunch at the Bryan Museum – This informative and tasty brunch includes a talk by international pearl harvester Mike Brennan. The brunch includes two winter-inspired cocktails, and a pair of pearl earrings for all women attending. A variety of pearl jewelry will be available for purchase. $75. 10:30am.
• Vino Vinyasa at Hilton Americas Houston – This yoga class, perfect for yogis of all levels, lets you begin your day on the hotel’s Skyline Terrace, where you’ll go through poses with a sweeping view of Downtown. Following class, have a glass of wine. $30. 10:30am to noon.

• Bun B’s Trill Tenders Pop-Up Outside NRG Stadium – Already acclaimed for his successes in hip hop, UH professorship and Trill Burgers—voted best Burger in America on Good Morning America—Bun B debuts his first pop-up for the also-award-winning Trill Tenders at the tailgate before the Texans game against the Denver Broncos. • HTX Boss Babes Holiday Fest at M-K-T | FREE – This all-female lineup presents more than 80 women entrepreneurs, music makers and more. Shop from women-owned companies, listen to female DJs, check out photo installations and join others in supporting the work of women. 11am to 4pm.
• Tidbits Twinkle Market with Global Bites & Beats at City Place | FREE – This tented market features 20 curated vendors and is held alongside the rescheduled date of Urban Harvest’s Global Bites & Beats kickoff, featuring culinary treats and hands-on creative activities. Noon to 4pm.
• Pozole Competition at Big Owl Brew House | No Cover – This first annual celebration of the traditional Mexican soup brings together SpaceCity Snax, Turkey Forrest Brewing and Big Owl Craft Brewhouse to see who can make the best.2pm to 6pm.
• National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Movie Screening at Marriott Marquis Houston – Texas Winter Lights hosts a family movie night with a screening of the 1989 holiday classic, which finds Chevy Chase’s Clark Griswold character trying to make Christmas perfect for his family.
