  • Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2024 | Daily | Ongoing – The city’s signature event brings together more than two million people from all backgrounds and all regions of the Greater Houston area—and beyond—for three full weeks of carnival fun, adventurous eats, livestock shows, rodeo competitions and star-studded live concerts. Check out the concert lineup and secure your seats, or go for the thrill of the festival with a grounds-only ticket, available for $20; $10 for ages 3 to 12 (carnival rides and games are an additional cost). Times vary.
  • Alan Cumming is Not Acting His Age at Hobby Center | Wednesday & Thursday – The Tony Award winner comes to Houston to talk about everything, from the time the mom from the Brady Bunch punched him to what his dog has taught him about the quality of life. Expect song selections from Cabaret along with stories and an irreverent wit. $54 and up. 7pm.
  • 4th Wall Theatre Company presents The Thanksgiving Play at Spring Street Studios | Thursday to Sunday | Ongoing – What happens when a group of well-meaning adults try to produce an elementary school Thanksgiving program that is historically accurate and culturally sensitive? The answer lies in this hilarious and timely production. This production runs through Saturday, March 23. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Camel & Ostrich Racing at Sam Houston Race Park | Friday & Saturday – Take in Houston’s Best Bet, with an exhibition of camel and ostrich racing mixed in with thoroughbred horse racing. $5. 6:30pm Friday; 11am Saturday.
  • Comedian Katie Hannigan at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – A stand-up comic, actor and writer, Hannigan has been featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Comedy Central, Just For Laughs, and more. Catch her unique exploration on life, relationships and more. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian René Vaca at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The comedian and recent winner of the 16th annual StandUp NBC competition comes to Houston for a weekend of shows at the Improv. The San Fernando Valley native has built a following with his stand-up comedy clips, reaching millions of views across his social media channels. $70 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Drunk Shakespeare at the Emerald Theater | Daily | Save Up to 41% on Tickets– Five professional actors perform one of the Bard’s classic tragedies in a hidden library with a catch—one of the actors takes five shots of whiskey before the show. Mayhem and hilarity ensues as the sober remaining cast try to keep the play from running off the rails completely. Full price tickets start at $49, but limited discounted tickets starting at $29 are available for most showsShowtimes vary.

  • Art Handling Olympics at HCCC | FREE – This first-ever Texas competition sees members of the local art-handling community compete in a test of skill across events like the porcelain packing challenge, speed weeding, and more, vying for the gold medal. While the competitive slate is full, you can come by and enjoy free beer and popcorn as you cheer on your favorite handlers. 5:30pm to 8pm.
  • Taste of Nobu at Nobu Houston – In celebration of 30 years of the Nobu brand, chef Nobu Matsuhisa has embarked on a journey across the states to commemorate scenes of Nobu throughout the years. His Houston stop features a special evening of signature canapes, live chef stations and handcrafted cocktails. $250. 6:30pm.
  • The Kills in Concert at House of Blues– The rock duo comes to Houston, fresh off the release of their latest album, God Games. Their first new album in seven years, Glide Magazine called it “a dark album that pushed [them] even further as artists.” $39.50 and up. 7pm.    
  • Comedian Uncle Lazer at Houston Improv – The Texas native and comedian talks everything from terrible dating experiences to unapologetic feel-good stories of coming up in the South, in an act that’s laced with over-the-top energy that taps into his blue collar upbringing. $50 for two. 7:30pm.
  • Pink Floyd Tribute Rooftop Concert at Post Houston – Experience a tribute to the legendary British psychedelic group, Pink Floyd, at Post Houston’s Skylawn with a performance from Pigs on the Wall. They’ll sing the band’s biggest hits and deep tracks, in an evening concert under the stars. $20 and up. 8pm.
  • Elli Acula DJ Set at Bauhaus Houston – The German self-described rebel, dreamer and night owl brings her groovy, powerful sounds of techno, rave, breakbeat, electro and jungle to Houston. $15 and up. 10pm.

  • Sisters of the Road: International Women’s Day Celebration & FotoFest Launch at Sawyer Yards | FREE – A new immersive exhibition highlighting women truckers kicks off its U.S. tour with an opening night celebration.Guests can meet a real female trucker and tour her truck. Plus there will be an artist, curator, trucker talk. Sisters of the road will be on view daily through Wednesday, March 13, 2024. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Comedian Danish Maqbool at the Secret Group – The New Jersey-born comedian, who has been featured on Ramy, performs live in EaDo. He’ll offer up his unique and funny take on life and society. $20 and up. 7pm.
  • LetsdothisHouston presents ’90s R&B Night Light Bike Ride at 3rd Ward Tours– Guests will be able to vibe to their favorite ’90s R&B songs on this music-themed bike ride, cruising to destinations such as Discovery Green, Third Ward, Midtown, and The Museum District. $12 and up. 7pm.
  • Rodeo Houston: Major Lazer in Concert at NRG Stadium – The EDM trio, which includes Diplo, Walshy Fire and Houston-native Ape Drums, makes their Rodeo debut with a blend of genres that touches on reggae and dancehall, soca, house and beyond. $25 and up. 9pm.
  • The Silos in Concert at Continental Club – The Midtown live music venue welcomes New York’s post-punk ‘80s band. The Los Angeles Times lauded their ability for “turning up the volume and intensity,” while The Alternate Root noted they are “the darlings of critics and connoisseurs of authentic heartland rock and roll.” $15 and up. 9pm. 
  • Armnhmr DJ Set at Stereo Live – The West Houston nightclub welcomes the Los Angeles DJ/producer duo for a live set. From their days as underground amateur artists to becoming widely lauded professionals, the duo has held onto their signature blending of EDM subgenres such as future bass, trance, and dubstep. $19.99 and up. 10pm to 2am. 

Saturday, March 9, 2024 

  • KTX Market at No Label Brewing Company | No Cover – Check out this family-friendly event featuring local vendors, live music, and food trucks. It’s an opportunity to shop local and enjoy an easy-going afternoon. 1pm to 5pm.
  • 10 Year Celebration at Pimlico Irish Pub | No Cover– The Waugh Drive pub celebrates 10 years with live music from Meaux Cotton & the Feel, food and drinks. Come find out why this spot has been a favorite for a decade. 2pm to 8pm.
  • International Women’s Day Celebration at Trez Bistro & Wine Bar – Put on your best flower attire for this evening celebration of women, their achievements and contributions. Connect with like-minded individuals and take in thought-provoking discussions while sampling delicious food and drink from the bistro’s menu. $5. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Knockers & Knockouts Rodeo Kickoff at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – The Midtown spot hosts this Rodeo-themed night of burlesque and MMA action. Boots, cowboy hats, and rodeo attire are strongly encouraged. Expect prizes, giveaways and more. 7pm.
  • Micah Edwards Live Set at Eden Plant Co. – Get into the groove of sounds by soulful singer-songwriter Micah Edwards in this intimate set at the plant-filled shop on Harrisburg in the East End. $25. 7:30pm.
  • Ak’chamel Tour Kickoff Show at Hardy & Nance Studios – The local psychedelic folk act performs live for their tour kick-off, bringing their signature desert-scorched psychedelia, post-apocalyptic shamanism, and war-torn ritual to the stage. $5. 8pm.
  • Comedian Sofia Niño de Rivera at 713 Music Hall – The Mexican comedian and actress comes to Houston for a big show at Post, building on her acclaimed specials on Netflix and elsewhere. $75 and up. 8pm.
  • Disco Night at Numbers Nightclub – DJ/AC spins classic ’70s, ’80s, funk, and disco music at the Montrose staple, Numbers Nightclub. The epic favorites and groovy jams will have you dancing all night long. $10. 9pm to 3am.

Sunday, March 10, 2024 

  • International Women’s Day at Karbach Brewing Co. | No Cover – In Spring Branch, Karbach and Shop Local Market hosts a day market celebrating female entrepreneurship with goods and artwork by 30 female artists and makers. This follows up the Women’s Quarter Marathon held in the morning with Houston Running Co. 11am to 6pm.
  • Mini Vibe Market at Megaton Brewery | No Cover – The Kingwood brewery hosts this market featuring more than 50 local artists and vendors, live music, craft brews, and multiple food trucks. Noon to 5pm. 
  • Missouri City Soul Food Festival at Missouri City Community Center | FREE – Enjoy soul food from more than 30 different food vendors from Dallas, Houston, Austin, and other surrounding cities in this celebration of soul cuisine. Expect pork chops, oxtails, candied yams, greens, fried chicken, fish, barbecue, funnel cake, turkey legs and tacos, along with vegan and keto options. RSVP required. Noon to 6pm.
  • Plant, Paint & Sip at New Magnolia Brewing – Everyone from expert gardeners to curious newbies can select a homegrown, easy-care houseplant, provided by Pish Posh Plants, and paint a terracotta pot while enjoying beer at New Magnolia Brewing. $37. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Spring Break Drone Show in Downtown Galveston | FREE – Head to the Island’s Saengerfest Park where skies over downtown Galveston will light up with hundreds of drones, creating a mesmerizing aerial spectacle set to music. 7pm.
  • Rob Landes: Back To Berlin at the Grand 1894 Opera House– This historic Galveston venue hosts Landes and his trio, playing the music of iconic composer Irving Berlin. Look for favorites such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Cheek to Cheek,” along with lesser-known songs like “Marie from Sunny Italy” and “Falling Out of Love Can Be Fun.” $18 and up. 4pm.
