- Freedom Rocks Fest at Lagoonfest Texas | Wednesday & Thursday – The third annual fest promises a packed slate of tribute bands honoring some of the greatest rock legends of all time. Hit the aquamarine waters of the Texas City lagoon, relax with food and drink, and take in a Thursday night drone show, starting at 9pm. $38; $20 for ages 3 to 13. 10am to sunset.
- Baytown’s 4th of July Celebration at Bicentennial Park | Wednesday & Thursday | FREE – The City of Baytown hosts its two-day 4th of July event with a car show, a firework extravaganza and live music by Bellamy Brothers, Niko Moon, Brett Young, and more. A fireworks spectacular caps off the festivities on Thursday night at 9:30pm. Wednesday 5:30pm to 10pm; Thursday 4pm to 10pm.
- Comedian Lace Larrabee at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday to Sunday – The America’s Got Talent semi-finalist followed up her breakout success with the debut comedy special White Trash Cinderella, and now finds herself at the upstairs stage at The Riot for back-to-back nights. $20 and up. 7pm.
- Pete Holmes at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The actor and comedian, who also hosts the You Made It Weird podcast, brings a weekend of equal parts goofy laughs and existential dread to the Spring Branch club for his latest material in The Feelin’ It Tour. $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.
- Dixie Longate: Cherry Bombs & Bottle Rockets at The Grand 1894 Opera House | Saturday & Sunday – Dive into another world with the beloved Tupperware lady’s first ever stand-up show as she shares her thoughts on Loretta Lynn to alien abductions, pogo sticking to “safe words.” $25 and up. 3pm and 8pm.

- Salsa Lessons for Beginners at Henke & Pillot – The Downtown bar helps you figure out the 1’s and 2’s of salsa, bachata and more, followed by social dancing. $20 and up. 7pm.
- The Comedy Cookie Jar Open Mic at The Secret Group | FREE – This weekly series at the EaDo club features up-and-coming comics taking the mic to deliver new material to a room full of laughs. 10pm.

- Pint-Sized Science at North Shepherd Brewing | FREE – Hit up the North Shepherd taproom for a conversation with Dr. Daniel Potter of the Kinder Institute about Houston’s shifting demographics and how the annual survey helps us understand the city as we know it. 6:30pm.
- Noche De Sabor at Neighbors | FREE – The East End bar hosts a night of Latin dance with free dance lessons and Latin music spinning late into the night. 8pm.
- Red Hot Chili Peppers Tribute at Main Street Crossing – Three Hot Chili Peppers deliver the hits of the LA-based supergroup, along with some funky jams and other musical surprises. $26 and up. 8pm.

- Raj Sharma at Houston Improv – The Dallas-native comedian pulls through the Spring Branch comedy club for a night of laughs inspired by his worldly observations and traditional Hindu upbringing. $30 for 2, and up. 7:30pm.
- Victor Wooten & the Wooten Brothers in Concert at The Heights Theater – Experience a high-energy, super-funky, artistic blend of styles that includes original songs and classics from Victor Wooten & the Wooten Brothers in the Heights. $34 and up. 8pm.
- The Cars Tribute Band Rooftop Concert at Post Houston – Head atop the Skylawn at Post Houston for a night of classic hits by ’80s band The Cars in this tribute performance under the stars and skyscrapers of Downtown. $20 and up. 8pm to 10pm.
- Chus and Genix: Independence Eve at Bauhaus – Dance deep into the night with a doubleheader of DJs and other guests, including a Bauhaus debut of rising Anjunabeats star, Genix. $9.95. 10pm.

- Fireworks Over the Bay at Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House – Pier 6 goes big for its annual Independence Day bayside bash. This year, the San Leon Fire Department will have a fire engine on site for kiddos to check out from 2pm to 4pm; and guests can enjoy live music, a face painter, balloon artist, popcorn machine, and sno-cones from 4pm to 9pm, with fireworks on the pier to end the night. Pair the festivities with fresh Gulf seafood, tropical cocktails, draft beer and wine. Reservations recommended; those only viewing the fireworks can purchase $5 wristbands. 2pm to 9pm.
- Freedom Over Texas at Eleanor Tinsley Park – The annual Freedom Over Texas will feature local, regional, and national entertainment, capped off with a musically choreographed, “Texas-sized” fireworks finale at Eleanor Tinsley Park. The concert stage will host a headlining set from country star Russell Dickerson, plus award-winning artists Jo Dee Messina, Chapel Hart, blues guitarist Mathias Lattin, and more. Fireworks start around 9:30pm. Tickets are $10; free ages 5 and under. 4pm to 10pm.
- Red, White & Boom at Crown Festival Park in Sugar Land | FREE – Take the family out to Crown Festival Park for live musical entertainment, community booths, activities, photo opportunities, and of course, a dazzling firework display to conclude the celebration. 5pm to 9pm.
- Fourth of July Celebration: Boots, Bands & BBQ with Oliver Penn at Dan Electro’s – The Heights guitar bar celebrates the holiday with live performances from country singer-songwriter Oliver Penn, plus openers The Twenty Twos and Taylor Marberry. Hilliard American Vintage will also be on-site for pop-up shopping. $10. 7pm.
- Houston Symphony’s Star Spangled Salute at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The Symphony’s Independence Day tradition returns to the Miller stage, featuring a rousing program of patriotic songs to celebrate the country’s birthday. Fireworks will cap it all off, beginning around 10pm. 8:30pm to 10pm.

- Tribeville Music Festival at White Oak Music Hall – Celebrate Black music and art from around the world as “one tribe” on the lawn at White Oak, featuring headliner and Afrobeat superstar Davido. $89 and up. Noon to 11pm.
- Red Lace Burlesque & Variety Show at Henke & Pillot – The Downtown bar offers a tantalizing show of choreography, classic burlesque routines and talented dancers. $35 and up. 6pm.
- Conjunto Primavera in Concert at Arena Theatre – Take in one of the most popular acts in regional Mexican music with this norteño-sax band from Ojinaga, Chihuahua. $55 and up. 8:30pm.
- AM/FM: The ’70s Rock Experience at Continental Club – Former members of Houston rock bands join together to deliver the biggest and best rock anthems of the ’70s. Ages 21 and up. $10 and up. 9pm.
- Grupo LMT in Concert at Warehouse Live Midtown – Dance all night to a live showcase of Norteño and Tejano tunes from Grupo LMT in Midtown. $15 and up. 9pm.
- Marauda DJ Set at Stereo Live Houston – It’s a night of Australia flavor with this riddim dubstep DJ and producer at the West Houston venue. $39.99. 10pm.

- Goat Yoga at Little Woodrow’s EaDo – Find your inner Zen at the EaDo outpost of Lil’ Woodrow’s with pygmy goats and after-class mimosas. $45 and up. 10am and 11am.
- Marva’s Psychic & Holistic Fair at La Quinta Hotel-Galleria | No Cover – This monthly fair has been running since 1995, offering 15-minute psychic readings and a vendor market with spiritual and metaphysical products and services, including crystals, energy healing, scented candles, soul painting, aura photography, soul painting, and more. 10am to 5pm.
- Houston Soul Food Festival at The Zone – Folks can taste soul food favorites from over 30 food vendors from around the state at the annual Houston Soul Food Fest, from smothered pork chops, oxtails and fried fish to candied yams, greens, and funnel cake. Small business vendors will be onsite as well. Limited free tickets with RSVP; $5 and up closer to the event. 10am to 6pm.
- K-Pop Night Market at Stomping Grounds at Garden Oaks | FREE – Soak up the K-Pop vibes at a summer event in Garden Oaks, featuring dancing, local vendors, raffles, live music, performances and a party playlist. 3pm to 8pm.
- Strand Summer Series: Two Tons of Steel in Concert at Saengerfest Park | FREE – The Galveston park space hosts a free show from the San Antonio–based rockabilly and county group for a night of summer fun. 6pm.
- Splice Records 10 Year Anniversary Concert at Dan Electro’s – Celebrate the decade anniversary of this Houston-based record label with featured performances by Vodi, Ancient Cat Society, Dollie Barnes, and headliner Tomar and The FCS. $15 and up. 7pm.
- The Best of The Secret Group at The Secret Group – Rising stars and seasoned pros take the stage at the EaDo comedy club for a night of hilarious jokes, uproarious anecdotes and more. $10 and up. 8pm (18+); 10pm (21+).

- Houston Caribbean Festival at Independence Park – Carnival Season has arrived, so don’t miss the Parade of the Bands sharing infectious rhythms of soca, reggae and calypso alongside Caribbean foods and more in Pearland. $25. 2pm.
- Green Velvet DJ Set at The Encore – In Downtown, take part in pool party shenanigans with longtime house and techno DJ, Green Velvet. $15. 2pm.
- 4th Annual Lumpia Eating Contest at Be More Pacific | FREE – Come cheer on these contestants as they face off, eating as much of this Filipino goodie as they can in a day filled with community spirit, local business support and a whole lotta lumpia. 3pm.
