  • Comedian Jackie Fabulous at Punchline | Thursday to Saturday – The American stand-up comic and actress has been seen on America’s Got Talent, Southland and more. She brings her special brand of funny to the Bayou City for four shows across three nights. $28 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian Rod G at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – Known for his appearances in Martin Lawrence’s 1st AmendmentComics UnleashedKey & PeeleChelsea LatelyLast Comic StandingKevin Hart Presents: The Next Level, Rod G brings his comedy to the Montrose stage for two nights. 7pm both nights.
  • JŪN Kitchen Takeover at The Fancy | Friday & Saturday – Galveston’s boutique hotel Lucine hosts Top Chef alum Evelyn Garcia, creating a 5-course Guest Chef dinner with JŪN partner chef Henry Lu. Expect snapper crudo with butternut squash and Asian pear, heirloom grits in a beef gravy, and more. $95 per person; wine pairing is additional. Times vary.
  • Houston Contemporary Dance Company & Open Dance Company: Butterfly Effect at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday & Saturday – Bringing together Houston’s two leading contemporary dance companies, the  world premiere performances will be laced with athleticism and artistry in an exceptional setting. $35. 7:30pm both nights.
  • Buffalo Bayou Mural Festival at Headquarters Houston | Friday to Sunday | FREE – Marvel at live mural art painting presentations and enjoy vendors, a classic car show, food, drinks, and more at the family-friendly, Buffalo Bayou Mural Festival. Friday 8pm to 11pm; Saturday 1pm to midnight; Sunday 10am to 6pm.
  • The Rocky Horror Show at Art Factory | Friday to Sunday – Art Factory lets loose an innovative, new revival of The Rocky Horror Show. Hike up those fishnets and strap on those stilettos for a raunchy ride through sexual awakening. Costumes and call-outs encouraged. $30. Times vary.
  • New Voices Fest at the Ensemble Theatre | Friday to Sunday – The bi-annual, dynamic, fully immersive, creative arts festival returns, featuring staged and concert play readings by emerging writers; panel discussions from industry professionals such as Eileen J. Morris, Dequina Moore and Krystal Uchem and others; theater education workshops; African-centered and African American cultural experiences; and a networking soiree. $40 and up. Times vary.
  • Artoberfest in Historic Downtown Galveston | Saturday & Sunday – Shop for one-of-a-kind art, jewelry, and home decor from over 100 artist booths at Galveston’s The Grand 1894 Opera House. Tickets are $5. Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday 10am to 4pm. 
  • Japanese Sake & Food Festival Houston 2024 at Post Houston | Saturday & Sunday – Indulge in a variety of local dishes paired with premium sake from renowned breweries in Downtown. $45. Saturday noon to 4pm and 5pm to 9pm; Sunday 2pm to 6pm.
  • 50th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission | Saturday & Sunday – Now it its fiftieth year, the storied RenFest Plan r takie guests back in time to partake in jousting, enchantment, musical performances, shopping and more. $20 in advance; $25 day of; free for ages 12 and under. 9am to 8pm.
  • Performing Arts Houston: Disney / Pixar’s Coco Live to Film Concert at Jones Hall | Saturday & Sunday  The 20-member Orquesta Folclórica Nacional de México performs the beloved Pixar film’s score live as the movie plays. It’s the story of a Mexican boy named Miguel, who finds himself in the Land of the Dead after a series of mysterious events. $19 and up. Times vary.

  • The Wild, the Pop & the Comic! at Hobby Center – The University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and the Formosa Quartet perform a delightful evening of music spanning beauty, humor, and madness, performing history’s oldest pop song, the score to Buster Keaton’s masterpiece Sherlock, Jr., and Formosa’s eclectic set of colorfully curious arrangements. $35; $15 for students. 7pm.
  • Norah Jones at 713 Music Hall – Known for her stunning vocals, the “Come Away With Me” and “Don’t Know Why” singer-songwriter performs live at 713 Music Hall inside Post Houston in Downtown. $42. 7:30pm.

  • Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra at Toyota Center – Led by original frontman and founder, the English rock band ELO, known for “Mr. Blue Sky”—recently popularized in the opening to Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2—”Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Last Train to London” land in the Rockets home stadium. $69 and up. 8pm.

  • Bordeaux Wine Tasting at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse – The Downtown location hosts an incredible 90-minute wine experience. Steven McDonald will walk guests through 15 tastings of Bordeaux across five tables, each featuring a selection of wines highlighting different areas of the French region. $150. 5:30pm.
  • 20th Annual Wine Walk at Market Street  The popular Wine Walk returns to The Woodlands with more than 50 wine-tasting tents, 40+ craft beer selections, and dozens of culinary offerings from area restaurants as well as live music, photo ops, and more. $79 to $135. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Suki Waterhouse in Concert at House of Blues – The English singer-songwriter and actress—known for her indie alt rock with melodic hooks and performing in The Billionaire’s Club and Daisy Jones and The Six, takes to the music hall stage. $45 and up. 7pm.
  • Full Moon Tour of the 1892 Bishop’s Palace – Get a rare moonlight-fueled look inside the National Historic Landmark, including the third floor, to see how Galveston’s architectural gem takes on a completely different look when the moon is full. $35. 7pm.
  • Salsa Night at Post Houston | FREE with RSVP – Love Dance HTX hosts an entertaining 90-minute class, suitable for all levels of dance, with instruction on salsa, bachata, and other Latin styles, along with tasty treats. Social dancing follows the class. 7pm.
  • Shepherd School Contemporary Ensemble with Christopher Theofanidis at Stude Concert Hall | FREE with RSVP – The Rice ensemble performs with Grammy-nominated composer Christopher Theofanidis, Shepherd’s guest composer in residence, at Rice University. Free, but advance tickets are required 7:30pm.
  • The Second City 65th Anniversary Show at The Heights Theater – The legendary comedy ensembles—counting Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Eugene Levy, and Joan Rivers among its alumni—bring audience favorite songs, sketches, and characters to Houston, while showcasing the current troupe’s comedy chops. $36 and up. 8pm.
  • Chase Atlantic in Concert at Bayou Music Center – The Australian-born, L.A.-based act brings their dark, alternative pop punctuated with rock and R&B to Downtown. $67 and up. 8pm.

  • Oktoberfest at Galveston Bay Brewing | No Cover – Take in a golf cart parade, specialty German brews, foods, live music, games, contests and more along the Clear Lake shore. 11am to midnight.
  • Catrines & Catrinas Contest & Night Market at Axelrad Beer Garden | No Cover – A special Dia de los Muertos edition of Axelrad’s popular night market celebrates La Catrina, the face of the holiday representing the acceptance of death and remembering loved ones lost. Come in costume to explore and enjoy a vendor market, prizes, food, drinks, and more. 6:30pm to 10pm.
  • Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics at Lone Star Flight Museum – Enjoy an evening of your favorite spooky tunes in this concert by candlelight, including Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” the Stranger Things theme, Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, a medley from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and more pop and classical pieces. $73 and up. 7pm and 9:15pm.
  • The Woodlands 50th Concert Celebration at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | FREE – Commemorating The Woodlands’ 50th anniversary, this concert features area artists Hayes Carll and Jack Ingram, along with the legendary Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. While the show is free, tickets are required and can be requested online. 7:15pm.
  • Maxwell in Concert at the Toyota Center – Known for giving birth to the neo-soul movement, Maxwell has won 3 Grammys, 6 Soul Train Music Awards and 2 NAACP Image Awards. Jazmine Sullivan and October London also perform. $69.50 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Musiqa presents Sound & Light at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The ensemble makes its Miller debut with this marriage of live contemporary chamber music and visual art that’s unlike anything else on Houston stages. During the performance, the conductor and pianist will be wearing mobile brain-body imaging caps, monitored through a brain-computer interface (BCI), by a team of neuro-engineers from the University of Houston’s BRAIN Center, and images of what’s happening neurologically will be shown on screens. 7:30pm.
  • Performing Arts Houston: Aida Cuevas: The Queen of Mariachi at Jones Hall – The Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winner leads a mariachi spectacular celebrating Mexico’s best selling artist, Juan Gabriel. She’ll perform some of his greatest hits, including Te Lo Pido Por Favor, Te Sigo Amando and others. $29 and up. 7:30pm.
  • The Derailers in Concert at Goode Co. Armadillo Palace – Head to the popular Upper Kirby spot for this live performance from the Austin-based country music band known for songs infused with humor and heartbreak Across their quarter-century of playing, they’ve appeared at the Grand Ole Opry, and on Late Night With Conan O’Brian, among others. $20. 8pm.
  • French Police in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – The Chicago band, known for blending dreamwave with Russian postpunk comes to the Heights area venue for a live show. Their latest album, Bully, was released earlier this year. $100 and up. 8pm.
  • Emo Halloween Bash with Shosty the Band at 8th Wonder | FREE – Bring your mood to Wonderworld for a night of live music by Shorty the Band and Garbage Girlfriend, a costume contest, emo photo booth, tasty drinks, vendor truck bites, and more. 8pm to 11pm.
  • Houston Anime Rave at Warehouse Live – The Midtown nightspot hosts and extraordinary journey into the heart of anime euphoria at this 21+ spectacle led by Alex Kade. Expect a night of with electrifying anime vibes and dance beats featuring your fave tunes. $28. 10pm to 2am.
  • CRi at Bauhaus – Canadian hit maker and Anjunadeep favorite CRi returns to the Downtown night spot. He’s known for high-energy basslines, dreamy multi-lingual vocals and upbeat melodies. $10 and up. 10pm to 2am.

  • Scream Queens Brunch at Chapman & Kirby – This popular monthly event includes a drag show and brunch buffet at the downtown gastro lounge. Festive craft cocktails, mimosa flights and bottle service will also be available. $35 per person. 11:45am.
  • Houston Filipino Street Festival at Constellation Field – Celebrate the Philippines and local Filipino culture at a family-friendly festival in Sugar Land, featuring live performances, street food and more. $17 and up; free for ages 7 and under. Noon to 7pm.
  • SpringStock Fall Fest ’24 at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | FREE  This all-ages local music festival brings together some of Houston’s best local artists and vendors for a day full of live music, art, food, and of course, plenty of beer for the adults. Noon to 10pm. 
  • Houston’s Best Dang Fried Chicken Contest 2024 at Karbach Brewing Co. – Savor the flavors as local chefs and purveyors—including Blood Bros Texas Barbecue, Little Rey “Al Carbon”, Tumble 22, Mia’s Table, Karbach, Jamaica Paradise Kitchen—compete for the championship. Each ticket includes tastings and a vote for your favorite, but you can stuff the ballot box by buying additional votes in this fundraiser for the Lupus Foundation: Texas Gulf Coast.  $25 and up. 1pm to 4pm.
  • ROCO Unchambered: Alecia Lawyer & Audrey Andrist at Horizon on Sunset Art Gallery – Be swept away in picturesque works such as Houston native Jefferson Todd Frazier‘s Music for the Birds, inspired by species of the Gulf Coast, and duos by Alyssa Morris and Jessica Meye. Pay-What-You-Wish; $25 suggested. 5pm.
  • Houston Diwali 2024 at Levy Park | FREE – Houston’s biggest festival of lights celebration will feature live music, a Diwali bazaar fashion show, cultural performances, henna tattoos, a vendor market, live music by Vidya Vox, fireworks, and street foods at Levy Park. 5pm to 9pm. 
  • Pedal Steel Noah in Concert at the 1859 St. Joseph’s Church – Catch a live show from 16-year-old Austin musician Noah Faulkner, who won hearts on Instagram covering ‘80s and ‘90s hits on pedal steel guitar. $30 and up. 6pm.
  • Cemetery Tours at Calvary Cemetery – Get in the spooky spirit with a side of island history in a guided tour through Calvary Catholic Cemetery, the burial place of Nicholas Clayton, home to Galveston Historical Foundation’s Oppermann Mausoleum, and more. $35. 6pm.
  • Flea By Night at Discovery Green | FREE – Spend an evening in Downtown’s front yard, shopping for unique items from local artisans and small business owners. Artwork, jewelry, homegoods and foodstuffs will be on offer, joined by tasty items from local food trucks. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Halloween Prom at La Vita Coffee – The popular coffee spot joins with Goths and Emos of Houston to throw one hell of a ball right in the heart of Washington Avenue. Dress for a monster’s night out, get your beastie boogie on, and savor free, themed freaky treats. BYOB. $10. 6pm to 11pm.
  • Mason Jennings in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – The folk-pop singer-songwriter, known for his hits “Race You to the Light”, “Ulysses”, and “Cursive Prayers” hits Houston on his most recent tour. $20. 7pm.
  • Gold Over America Tour: Simone Biles at Toyota Center – Budding Olympians can get a close-up look at the exhilarating sport of gymnastics at this powerful showcase from Simone Biles, Shilese Jones, Mlanie Johanna de Jesus dos Santos, Fred Richard,  and more. $75 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Houston Chamber Choir: I Just Want to Celebrate at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Relive the ‘70s, with music by Roberta Flack, the Bee Gees, Carly Simon, ABBA, the Jackson 5, and other favorites in a sing along at this concert that’s got something for everyone. 7:30pm.
  • Sixpence None the Richer in Concert at Warehouse Live Midtown – The Travis Street venue welcomes the alt-rock music group that burst into the mainstream with their single, “Kiss Me” in 1998. Formed in New Braunfels and Nashville-based, the group announced a new EP, Rosemary Hill, which will be released this month. $18.50 and up. 8pm.

  • U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The 60-member Concert Band and 29-member Soldiers’ Chorus join for a special combined concert, featuring a huge variety of musical styles, from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics, and Broadway show tunes. 7:30pm.
  • Chayanne in Concert at Toyota Center – The Puerto Rican Latin pop singer, known for hits like “Yo Te Amo,” “Tiempo de Vals” and lands in Downtown Houston. Chayanne has released 21 albums, selling more than 15 million worldwide. $86 and up. 8pm.
  • Sidewalks & Skeletons at Numbers – The U.K. artist takes electronic music and gives it a horror edge, infusing it with witch house, darkwave and trap music. Catch a set that’s perfect for the spooky season at the Montrose venue. $30 and up. 8pm to 2am.
