Get down and dirty with the Mud Challenger

It just won't be spring if you're not caked in mud at least once, right?

Get your Houston mud race on as the Mud Challenger race and obstacle course comes to Houston on Saturday, August 17, 2013.

Competitors in the mud run will slog through a series of elaborate obstacles designed by former Navy Seals and other military black ops experts. Runners will go through the ubiquitous mud pits, as well as do things like race through an ice tank gauntlet, jump over fire incinerator pits, dodge giant blades, crawl out of quicksand, scurry through a trench under barbed wire, navigate a series of ropes, and many more undisclosed barriers.

The race, which was rescheduled from its original May 4 date, will take place on a custom course assembled near Cleveland, and to the northeast of Kingwood.

If you are quick there are two options to register:

1) You can register for the directly by visiting the Mud Challenger website. Registration for one person is $79 until midnight, April 29, 2013. Then it goes up to $99 until the final registrations are accepted.

2) At times you can buy a Mud Challenger registration on Groupon for just $39. This is typically offered for the event that is farther away.
