When you want a margarita, Houston is not lacking in options. In the spirit of National Margarita Day on February 22, we pulled together a list of some of our favorite stops for frozen margarita goodness. Have fun and be safe!
Downtown / East Downtown

“La Imperfecta” photo courtesy of Original Ninfa’s on Navigation Original Ninfa’s on Navigation – The Ninfa’s that began it all offers rich, frozen and on the rocks ‘ritas that accompany their specialized Mexican menu, including their new hot pink “La Imperfecta” margarita.
- El Big Bad – Enjoy some of the most popular margaritas in town at this grander Downtown location from the folks at El Gran Malo in the Heights.
- Niko Niko’s – Perhaps the only thing better than drinking a frozen Nikorita at Niko Niko’s original location is drinking one while kicking back in the heart of Market Square Park.
- The Pastry War – Enjoy classic margaritas and tequila cocktails at this Mezcaleria tucked away on the Main’s 300 block.
- The Grove – Kick back a tart raspberry margarita with a stunning view of Discovery Green Park, whether you opt to sit inside or out.
Montrose
- Hugo’s – Situated on Westheimer east of Dunlavy, Hugo’s focus on regional Mexican cuisine and specializes in margaritas made from top shelf and fine tequilas.
- El Real Tex-Mex Cafe – Partake in marquee margaritas at this Montrose landmark known for its massive neon movie sign as well as its award-winning Tex-Mex.
- Niko Niko’s – You may not expect to find a satisfying ‘rita at a Greek restaurant, but this Houston institution is no run-of-the-mill Greek joint. You can always pair your too delicious to explain gyros with perfectly sweet, frozen margs.
River Oaks
- Américas – Experience the flavors of rich and enchanting margaritas made with fine tequilas in this festive, fun and modern River Oaks staple.
- Tila’s Restaurant and Bar – Tucked away in River Oaks, next to the curve on Shepherd, you’ll find another great Houston institution serving up delicious margs. Pups are welcome to join you on the patio.
Museum District
- Spanish Village Restaurant – Find delicious margaritas and Tex-Mex served up old school on Alemeda.
Washington Avenue
- TQLA – Head to TQLA on Washington for a make-you-own margarita bar and $6 Dobel margaritas.
Bellaire
- Pico’s Mex Mex – Texas Monthly calls them the “the best Mexican restaurant in Texas.” Their margaritas are no slouch either.
Across Greater Houston
- Lupe Tortilla – With 13 outlets spread throughout greater Houston, this local restaurant group is the go-to margarita and Tex-Mex favorite for many neighborhoods across the city. Click here to find one near you.
- Chuy’s Comida Deluxe – Chuy’s seven Houston restaurants are typically packed, serving up lime and strawberry ‘ritas. If you opt for frozen margaritas, try the swirl. But they can mix up something on the rocks as well. Click here to find one near you.
