Swing for the fences and snag a seat (or watch from home) at these games and sports events taking place across Houston in December 2021.
This month sees a slate of seasonal runs take to the streets of Greater Houston and Galveston, while the Rockets host some of the biggest superstars in the NBA.
The Texans will get a chance to finish the season stronger than they started, and the nationally-ranked Cougars basketball squad will look to keep their run for the March Madness bracket chugging along into 2022.

Week of Monday, November 29 to Sunday, December 5, 2021
- UEFA Champions League Trophy with Tore André Flo at Pitch 25 | Wednesday, December 1 – Ex-Chelsea FC striker Tore André Flo and the Champions League trophy itself will make an appearance at Brian Ching’s Pitch 25 in EaDo. Snap a photo next to the all-important hardware and have a chat with the Norwegian forward while you sip on brews and meet with fellow soccer supporters. Free with registration. 7pm.
- Run Houston Sugar Land at Constellation Field | Saturday, December 4 – Stretch out those hammies and get ready for a 5K or 10K run from the home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, up Stadium Drive, and back. Registration ranges from about $40 for the Kids Dash to $70 for the 10K with a limited early bird window available. 8:15am.
- Houston Jingle All the Way 5K/10K/Kids Dash at Addicks Park & Ride | Saturday, December 4 – In the Energy Corridor, this annual holiday run is a popular way to get into the seasonal spirit with three straight sell-outs. Runners can take to the pavement in three course lengths; 5K, 10K and a Kids Dash. Registration ranges from $52.75 to $57.75; $39.75 for the Kids Dash. 8am.
- Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium | Sunday, December 5 – Falling short of the division title last year, the Colts will return to Houston looking to pad their divisional record. - Houston Rockets vs. Brooklyn Nets at Toyota Center | Wednesday, December 8 – James Harden returns to Houston alongside Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and the Brooklyn Nets to take on the Rockets. Tickets range from $59 to more than $1,500, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks at Toyota Center | Friday, December 10 – The Rockets play host to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks. - The Battleground 2k21 at Toyota Center | Saturday, December 11 – The college basketball doubleheader returns to Toyota Center after a pandemic pause, bringing four collegiate squads from the Lone Start State to compete in an afternoon of exciting hoops action. Sam Houston and UTSA square off at 3pm, followed by Texas A&M Aggies getting a look at TCU at 5:30pm. Tickets range from $15 to $130, and are good for both games. 3pm.
- Houston Texans vs. Seattle Seahawks at NRG Stadium | Sunday, December 12 – Russell Wilson leads a fledgling Seahawks team to Houston for a showdown on the turf at NRG. - Houston Rockets vs. New York Knicks at Toyota Center | Thursday, December 16 – The New York Knicks, led by Julius Randle and Kemba Walker, arrive in H-Town to face the Rockets. - Santa Hustle 5K & Half Marathon at San Luis Resort in Galveston | Sunday, December 19 – Get decked out in your jolly best, don a Santa cap and beard, and get ready to join in with hundreds of other Saint Nicks for the annual holiday tradition in Galveston. All entrants for the 5K and half marathon will receive a zip hoodie, Santa hat, beard, and a finisher’s medal once you cross the line. Registration ranges from $49.99 for the 5K to $69.99 for the half marathon, with prices raising for race-day registration; $10 for the kids dash. 8am.

- College Basketball: Houston Cougars vs. Texas State Bobcats at Fertitta Center | Wednesday, December 22 – After a largely successful November to start the year, the nationally-ranked Coogs will face the Bobcats in their final game before going on a run against conference opponents for the rest of the season. - Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Chargers at NRG Stadium | Sunday, December 26 – The 2020 Rookie of the Year quarterback Justin Herbert is just one of several roster highlights on this promising Chargers squad that will look to finish the season strong against the Texans. - Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers at Toyota Center | Tuesday, December 28 – A star-studded roster of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and more arrive in Houston for a highly anticipated late-December matchup with the Rockets.
