Stretch, break a sweat, and get fit for summer at some of the city’s best paths for joggers.
Whether you want to break a record, or just break a sweat, Greater Houston boasts many great trails and parks to do it in. We highlighted five of our favorites.
5 Great Jogging Trails in Houston
- Rice University Loop – A popular post-work and post-class trail, the university’s own running trail gives runners a three-mile loop jog. Go for a quick jaunt or wrap round and round, or join the BON running club that hits the path every Tuesday at 5:30pm.
- Memorial Park – This three-mile trail also touts exercise stations located along the trail, and a larger workout station near the tennis center for those looking for a challenging workout. For sprinters, work on your speed and develop your running skills at the quarter-mile timing track.
- Terry Hershey Park – Share the paths with cyclists and speed-walkers at the West Houston conservancy. The park provides a scenic route with wildflowers and greenery aplenty.
- Buffalo Bayou Park – Another favorite for busy Houstonians looking for a quick sweat, the Bayou boasts plenty of paths to weave in and out of with great views of downtown. The park has seen a number of updates, repairs, and additions, making it a multi-use, sightseeing spot.
- The Woodlands Lake – For those not wanting to possibly get lost inside the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, the four-mile loop around the city’s lake still makes for a good burn. Go round and round on the wide paths and set your personal best.
