After popular demand, we’re very pleased to reintroduce our best weekly picks of events for kids and families. Leading into the last full weekend of October, it’s hard to avoid many of events that begin with “Hallow” and end with “een”, but there are still some independent crowd pleasers out there this week.

  • 30+ Halloween Trick or Treating, Costume Contests, Celebrations & Events for Kids & Families in Greater Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Find options for free trick or treating, hands on activities, costume opportunities, and more for families across the Greater Houston metro.
  • Frida’s Fiesta at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Tuesday | FREE – Express Children’s Theatre stages an English and Spanish interactive adventure inspired by the Russian Baba Yago folktale. Kids will join a shy young girl who must find the courage to outwit an evil witch who’s turned the girl’s mother into a tree. 11am.
  • The Great Pumpkin Hunt at Bellaire Town Square | FREE – Kiddos can don their Halloween best for a later afternoon filled with a hunt with toys, candy, prizes, face painting, music, and more. Prizes awarded in age groups 5 and under, and ages 6 to 10. 4pm; hunt at 4:30pm.
  • Halloween Happy House at Children’s Museum Houston | FREE – Kids in costume can join the ultimate Halloween party, dancing with Radio One’s DJs and monstrous characters. 5pm to 8pm.
  • 10th Annual Park to Port Bike Ride at Hermann Park | Saturday – Embark on a 20-mile round-trip bike ride from Hermann Park’s Bayou Parkland along the Bayou Greenway trail all the way to Mason Park near the Port of Houston. The all ages event includes turn-around and post-ride parties. $50. 8am.
  • Saturday Morning Cartoon Cereal Party: Halloween Edition at Houston Toy Museum | Saturday – Dive into a milk and cereal buffet as you partake in a spooky edition of this monthly watch party featuring Halloween episodes of DuckTalesScooby DooBeetlejuice, and more. $14; 13 and under pay their age. 10am to noon.
  • Island Boo Fest & Mystical Parade of Boo in Historic Downtown Galveston | FREE – Downtown Galveston transforms into a haven of spooky fun for all ages, with a lineup of Halloween activities including food and drink pairings, trick or treating, a vendor market, and the Mystical Parade of Boo. 10am to 8pm; parade at 6:30pm.
  • 11th Annual Magnolia Park Dia de los Muertos Festival & Parade at Hidalgo Park | FREE – The historic Latino neighborhood in Houston’s East End kicks off its annual Day of the Dead celebration with a morning parade followed by an all-day festival. 10:30am to 5pm.
  • 11th Annual Houston AfriFest at Houston Christian University | FREE for Students & Ages 17 & Under – Join this festive event celebrating the rich cultures of Africa packed with live music, traditional dances, art exhibitions, authentic African cuisine as you experience the beauty and diversity of African heritage. $10; free for 17 and under, students, and 60+. 11am to 7pm.
  • Houston Mediterranean Festival at St George Orthodox Christian Church | Saturday | FREE for Ages 3 & Under – Originally started in the early ’80s and revived in 2023, the Houston Mediterranean Festival returns to St. George Orthodox Christian Church in West University, celebrating the region’s vibrant culture and flavors with a day of food, drinks, shopping, music, and more. $5; free for ages 3 and under. 11am to 10:30pm.
  • 5th Annual Hike, Bike & Fright Fest at M-K-T | Saturday | FREE  People of all ages can go on an adventure through 30+ stops on this free family and dog-friendly Trick-Or-Treat Trail throughout M-K-T, and shop from artisan vendors at a sitewide HallowGreen Houston Plant Market. Expect photo ops, live performers, and hands-on activities. Noon to 6pm.
  • Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Airport | Saturday & Sunday | Save Up to 15%  One of the top airshows in the nation, Wings Over Houston welcomes back the Blue Angels and showcases vintage World War II aircraft and modern aviation with soaring spectacles, reenactments, and high-flying aerobatics.   • Happy Haunts Spooktacular at Jubilee | Sunday | FREE – The stunning new development in northwest Houston invites families out for a safe and exciting trick-or-treat trail winding through 8 model homes. Kids will get healthier alternatives instead of traditional candy and can enjoy face painting, games, crafts, a balloon artist, live DJ and much more for a family friendly outing. 1pm to 4pm.
  • 12th Annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat at CityCentre | Sunday | FREE – Go on a spooky stroll through CityCentre in your costume for tricks and treats. Stores and restaurants throughout the district will have goodies for the little trick-or-treaters and be marked with a festive balloon outside their door. Then, head to the plaza for spooky DJ tunes, a witchy Halloween performance, and other fun activities. 1pm to 4pm.
