- Bubbles & Board Games at Evelyn’s Park | Monday, October 2 | FREE – Kids and their families can come to the Bellaire park to laugh and play board games while they watch bubbles float through the air. 11am to noon.
- Fort Bend County Fair at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds | Monday, October 2 to Sunday, October 8 – Be part of the 87-year tradition when the county fair rolls back into Fort Bend all week long. Have a blast on carnival rides, chow down at BBQ cook-offs, hear live music, check out a week of rodeo events, and more. $15 for ages 12 and up; $5 for ages 6 to 11; free for ages 5 and under. Season passes start at $50. Times vary.
- Family Storytime at Levy Park | Tuesday, October 3 | FREE – Family Storytime features a story followed by a craft that accompanies the reading at the Greenway area park. All craft supplies are included as a part of this free program. 10am.
- The Original Greek Festival at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral | Thursday, October 5 to Saturday, October 7 – The annual Greek festival returns to the heart of Montrose, where you can expect bountiful Greek food, wine tastings, dancing, games and other family-friendly fun. $5; free for ages 12 and under. Times vary.
- 44th Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, October 5 to Saturday, October 7 | FREE – The Hermann Park stage again hosts this annual festival celebration of Chicano culture with performances across three nights, featuring David Lee Garza y Los Musicales on Thursday, Los Palominos on Friday, and a Saturday night performance from Little Joe y La Familia. 7pm.
- Mad Hatter Tea Party at the Woodlands Childrens Museum | Friday, October 6 – Don’t be late for a very important date with the Mad Hatter and friends. It’s a magical morning of child-friendly tea, decorating cookies, and creating hands-on unique art projects, plus visits from Alice, the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter. $6 (free for adults), in addition to museum admission. General admission is $8 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 1pm.
- RocktoberFest Weekend at Kemah Boardwalk | Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8 | FREE – Rock out as Kemah Boardwalk presents the 3-day Rocktoberfest featuring plenty of live music, kids’ activities, a live DJ, and a beer fest on Saturday. Hear live music from bands like the Velcro Pygmies and a tribute to rock band Journey. Times vary.
- Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival at Root Memorial Square | Saturday, October 7 – Celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day at the annual parade that begins at Root Memorial Square, just outside of Toyota Center. Dish on jollof rice, and enjoy afrobeats and a cultural procession through the streets of Downtown. 10am to 4pm.
- Hands on Houston: Inflatable Balloon Characters & Bouncing House at HCCC | Saturday, October 7 | FREE – Learn more about balloon-character sculpting, inspired by Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s current exhibition Max Adrian: RIPSTOP!, and explore various shapes and designs by inflating and twisting your own balloon. Those between 3 and 12 can also jump around the bouncy house. 11am to 3pm.
- Korean Festival at Discovery Green | Saturday, October 7 – Enjoy Korean music, foods, performances, shopping and more at this day-long, family-friendly event in Downtown. 11am to 9pm.
- Peppa Pig’s Sing-Along Party at Smart Financial Centre | Saturday, October 7 – The loveable, cheeky little piggy returns to Sugar Land in a brand-new interactive production filled with dancing, singing, and puddle jumping. $40 and up. 2pm.
- Oktoberfest at Sugar Land Town Square | Saturday, October 7 – Grab your Lederhosen and dirndls for an evening of Bavarian music and dancing, games and prizes, German food and beer at Sugar Land’s Oktoberfest celebration. Expect fun games and contests like the Dachsund Dash, stein races, stein-holding, and keg-stacking competitions. There will also be kids’ polka lessons (and a performance for all), a bratwurst eating contest, and more. $5 in advance; $7 day of the event; free ages 11 and under. 4pm to 9pm.
- Little Artists at Museum of Fine Arts Houston | Sunday, October 8 – Families are invited to join an exciting art adventure with a storybook circle, art projects in the studio, and gallery visits with an MFAH teaching artist. Recommended for ages 3 to 5. $10 per person, in addition to museum admission. General admission is $19; free for ages 12 and under. 1pm to 2:30pm.
- The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art presents Fly Byes at Smither Park | Sunday, October 8 | FREE – This afternoon of art and fun includes free music, crafts, lowrider cars from Boyz en el Barrio and Certified Car Club, and a screening of the short film, Fly Byes at the mosaic-covered Smither Park. 1:30pm to 6:30pm.
- Houston Dash vs. Angel City FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Sunday, October 8 – The Dash make a final push for the NWSL playoffs in their last home game of the regular season, when they face the visiting women from Los Angeles in EaDo. $10 and up. 6pm.
