Enjoy a group exhibition on the Near Northside with Factations opening at Common House Studios on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

Featuring a selection of works by artists Ellen Drew Phillips, Jamiee Shim and Lindsey Varisco, Factations will find the three fledgling artists musing on the theme of cheshire poetics: what is seen and what is seeing, what is known and what can be known.

Each artist included approaches their work through the use of minimal yet complex structures, often pulling from recognizable household forms and utilizing materials such as concrete, clay, and acrylic house paint.

The lax house party exhibition will take place in the newly renovated garage studio area. Expect plenty of free beer and wine, but guests are more than welcome to bring what they please. Factations will be on view through Wednesday, May 18.

About Common House Studios

Located in a residential area in the Near Northside area of Houston, the Common House is just that: a home. The one hundred year old house, which contains four studio spaces made available for early career visual artists, was founded in March of 2015 with the intention of fostering inspiration, community and providing a place for productivity.

Artists of the House hold open studio shows every 3 months and artist movie nights occur randomly. The House is available as a venue or platform for studio artists and non-studio artists.
