Across Greater Houston, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get out and celebrate Earth Day 2022 with fun concerts, educational outdoor festivals, craft activities—and even take-home tree saplings to plant at home.

  • Planet Rock Wonderweek at Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center | Ongoing | Ends Saturday, April 23 – All week long, the children’s museum in Fort Bend celebrates the Earth with a week of events featuring repurposed, recycled and sustainable materials where you can learn to build a beautiful garden collage, craft an Earth Day fan, create eco-friendly bracelets, and more. $15 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • CEC Conversation: The Circular Economy at Archway Gallery | Thursday, April 21 | FREE – As part of its April group exhibition, For the Love of Earth, Archway Gallery in Montrose is hosting two conversations about the environment with the Citizens Environmental Coalition (CEC). 6:30pm.
  • Earth Day Celebration at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch | Friday, April 22 | FREE – In Katy, the LaCenterra shopping district hosts an afternoon of Earth Day fun with a tree giveaway to the first 100 attendees, craft activities for kids, educational booths, vendors, and more. 1pm to 4pm.
  • The Earth Day Show at Hardy & Nance Studios | Friday, April 22 | FREE – From the Houston Working Artists Collective comes this Earth Day celebration which features artworks that can only be created with reused canvas, found objects, and whatever is lying around the studio—but no new supplies. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Earth Day Celebration at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, April 23 | FREE – Take a hike at the Houston Arboretum as it celebrates Earth Day with a family-friendly event featuring poetry, drawing, photography and more. Plus, explore educational booths and displays in the Discovery Room before taking to the trails and getting hands-on with eco-friendly crafts and activities. 10am to 2pm.
  • Pearland Earth Day Celebration at Independence Park | Saturday, April 23 | FREE – The return of Pearland’s Earth Day celebration brings a slate of family-friendly activities where visitors can enjoy live music and kids crafts while interacting with educational exhibitors and sustainable small businesses. 10am to 2pm.
  • Earth Day at Children’s Museum Houston | Saturday, April 23 – Celebrate Earth Day with a full day of activities in the Museum District; learn about ants in an interactive presentation, take a close look at the skulls and fur of Texas native animals, plant a milkweed seed, and bring home a tree sapling if you’re one of the first lucky 300 through the doors. $15 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Earth Day Festival at Houston Public Library | Saturday, April 23 | FREE – Head to the outdoor Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza for the first annual Earth Day festival at Downtown’s HPL campus, featuring story time, dance performances, film screenings, Earth-friendly craft activities, and the opportunity to bring home a tree sapling. 11:15am to 3pm.
  • Earth Day & Phase 2 Celebration at Evelyn’s Park | Saturday, April 23 | FREE – Celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Bellaire park’s renovations while you celebrate Earth Day with plenty of picnicking festivities, live music, fun fitness classes, kids activities and a treasure hunt. Noon to 4pm.
  • Ocean Music Action at Moody Center for the Arts | Saturday, April 23 | FREE – This multi-disciplinary showcase on the Rice University campus joins the music of the Knights chamber orchestra with stunning ocean photography by National Geographic‘s David Liittschwager and dance performance from Maile Okamura for an ocean-inspired event. 6pm.
