Make some space in your brewery orbit for the hoppy styles and roomy taproom of Astral Brewing in Independence Heights.
On the Northside, just above 43rd Street in Independence Heights, you’ll find Astral Brewing, a relative newcomer on the taproom scene that has been offering hopped styles and spacious digs to become one of the neighborhood’s great places to wind down.
Founded by José Ceja and head brewer Alex McDonald in spring 2019, Astral Brewing has since churned through dozens of styles and variations, with a few year-round staples and plenty of limited, get-it-while-you-can suds on tap.

Cosmic Cold Ones
Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or a brew newcomer, Astral Brewing has plenty of tasty options on tap, with a particular focus on hoppy ales, like hazy New England IPAs and crisp West Coast IPAs.
You’ll also find non-beer options like cider and wines alongside a row of taps that see rotating selections like Kölsches, pale ales, porters, sours, stouts, and more.
And if you’d like to bring some suds home, there’s plenty of canned choices to pull from the fridge or fill up a growler to-go.
Space for All
Located in the burgeoning Independence Heights community, Astral Brewing’s dog-friendly digs can host plenty of people in the roomy indoor taproom, or on the shaded patio that juts past the front doors.
A rotating slate of food trucks can be spotted on weekends and occasional weekdays (including vegan options on select days), so be sure to check out Astral’s social media for the latest savory visitor. Plus, you’ll stay up-to-date on different theme nights, run clubs, yoga sessions and more.
