Make your way to the opening with Barry Elkanick’s first solo exhibition on view at Flex Space Saturday, January 9 through Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
Living and working out of Houston, Elkanick’s art work blends abstract painting with high concept narratives based on his own experiences as well as curiosities regarding present day cultural phenomenons.
In Proceed to the Nearest Exit, Houston-based Elkanick’s first solo exhibition, the young painter has crafted a conceptual narrative sparked by a series of conversations with Suplex curator, Max Fields.
At the core of their discussions a question arose: Without physical or financial limitations, what form would Elkanick have his ideal solo exhibition take?
The result of the utopian question is the painting-based Proceed to the Nearest Exit which finds Elkanick both metaphorically and literally working his way up through his sparked concept.
Presented by curatorial collective Suplex, the exhibition will be held at She Works Flexible’s Flex Space which shares a back patio with Montrose-area restaurant Brasil.
