Welcome Ballet Hispanico back to Houston as they bring their new show CARMEN.maquia, a sensual re-imaging of Georges Bizet’s opera, to Jones Hall for one night on Saturday, October 24, 2015.

One of the nation’s most innovative and athletic dance troupes, Ballet Hispanico brings its trademark creativity and flair back to Houston.

A storied Latino dance organization that constantly seeks new creative challenges, the Ballet has enraptured more than three million people on three continents with its rich repertory of more than 100 works. The New York Times has lauded its “invention, humor and spontaneity.”

For its return to Jones Hall, the company will perform its first full-length narrative work – Gustavo Ramírez Sansano’s CARMEN.maquia. Riveting from start to finish, this work boldly reimagines Bizet’s iconic opera about a passionate gypsy. Stunning sets and minimalist, flesh-exposing black-and-white costumes, complements the work’s sensually charged choreography. Contemporary dance fuses with traditional Spanish paso doble and flamenco during this showcase performance.

Parental discretion is advised.
