Cut a rug and the red tape to Houston’s first outdoor roller rink at the opening of The Rink: Rolling at Discovery Green on Friday, March 3, 2017.

From 6pm to 10pm this opening celebration will feature favorite roller rink tunes from the ’50s through the ’90s played live by locals such as The Allen Oldies Band, Light Rock Express, and Xanadudes.

To top it off, there will be two ten-minute derby demo battles from the Missfits Roller Derby, Houston Roller Derby, Yellow Rose Derby Girls, and Southside Roller Derby at 6pm and 8pm.

Opening Night of The Rink at Discovery Green

  • Dates: Opening night Friday, March 3, 2017; open daily.
  • Times: Opening night 6pm to 10pm; Monday to Thursday 5pm to 10pm; Friday 5pm to 11pm; Saturday and school holidays 11am to 11pm; Sundays 11am to 9pm. Weather permitting.
  • Location: Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney St, Houston, TX 77010
  • Parking: Paid lot and metered street parking is available in the surrounding area.
  • Admission: Tickets are $12 per person; $14 online; $6 on cheap skate nights (Monday March, 6 and Monday, March 20, 2017). Roller skating tickets include skate rental, or you can choose to bring your own four-wheel or in-line skates.
