• Stages presents Sunrise Coven at the Gordy | Ends Sunday, April 10 – This world premiere follows the residents of the fictional town of Buckshot, Texas. Nurse Hallie has cared for Buckshot’s geriatric patients for years and when her eyesight fails her, she turns to the local coven to help heal her charges. $25 and up. Showtimes vary.
• 4th Wall Theatre Company presents Gloria at Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios | Ends Saturday, April 16 – A workplace comedy that follows the adventures of an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a notorious New York magazine, Gloria explores what happens when an ordinary workday suddenly becomes anything but. $32 and up. • Dog Act at Main Street Theater | Ends Saturday, April 16 – Liz Duffy Adams’ post-apocalyptic comedy is the story of traveling entertainer Zetta Stone and her companion, Dog, on their way to China for their next gig. A look at the need for stories and language when the world is in chaos, it’s a striking look at what it means to be connected. $35 and up. Showtimes vary.

• Houston’s Got Bollywood: Mela–The Carnival at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, April 2 | FREE | Virtual Option – The sights and sounds of carnival come alive in epic, energetic Bollywood style. Across four acts, 50 dancers showcase incredible costumes, intricate choreography and mesmerizing visuals. Lawn seats are open to the public; covered seats require a free ticket. 8pm.
• Opera in the Heights presents Eugene Onegin at Lambert Hall | Select Dates from Saturday, April 2 to Sunday, April 10 – Experience Tchaikovsky’s melodic, emotional rendering of a story about love and loss. Based on the Pushkin novel, it explores the relationship of Tatyana and Onegin, and how their lives intertwine. $34.50 and up. Showtimes vary.
• Classical Theatre Company presents The War of the Worlds at the DeLuxe Theater | Wednesday, April 13 to Sunday, May 1 – Originally published in 1898, The War of the Worlds is the story of invaders from Mars. Turned into a radio drama, the play stunned and terrified listeners in the 1930s. Across its 120-year life, it’s been immortalized in comic books, movies and more. Now, CTC offers this world premiere of the enduring tale that offers insight to what it means to be human. $25 and up. Wednesday to Saturday 8pm; Sunday 2:30pm.
• 2022 Dance Salad Festival at Wortham Theater Center | Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16 – A beloved celebration of dance in all its forms, the festival returns for its 25th year. Each performance offers a different company and style of dance. Among those appearing are Hofesh Shechter Company from London, which will offer Grand Finale, and the Royal Danish Ballet’s Kammerballetten performances. $27 and up. 7:30pm each night.

• Houston Grand Opera presents Turandot at Wortham Theater Center | Friday, April 22 to Sunday, May 8 – Puccini’s masterpiece is the story of a princess who has no desire to marry, and thwarts the efforts of her suitors by challenging them to answer complex riddles or be beheaded. • Houston Chamber Choir presents All-Night Vigil at Rice University | Saturday, April 23 & Sunday, April 24 – The Grammy Award–winning ensemble had plans to present this glorious Rachmaninoff piece when the pandemic shut them down. • Broadway Across America presents Fiddler on the Roof at Hobby Center | Tuesday, April 26 to Sunday, May 1 – There’s a reason this show is a Broadway classic. The story of dairyman Tevye, his wife, and five daughters, it features instantly recognizable songs such as “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker” and “Tradition.” Helmed by Tony Award–winning director Bartlett Sher, it’s an uplifting look at life, love and family. $30 and up. • Houston Symphony presents Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony at Jones Hall | Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1 | Virtual Option – In his final performances as music director for the Houston Symphony, Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts this resplendent symphony, unmatched in all of music.
