- Home Opener: Sugar Land Skeeters vs. El Paso Chihuahuas at Constellation Field | Thursday, May 20 through Sunday, May 23 – Newly christened as the Triple-A Affiliate to the Houston Astros, the Sugar Land Skeeters return to their home field for the 2021 season, opening against El Paso in a six-game series. Tickets range from $8 to $60, but you may find better, cheaper or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. Times vary.
- 34th Annual NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park | Friday, May 21 to Sunday, May 23 – The three-day Spring Nationals competition returns, sending top fuel, funny car, and pro stock hot rods roaring down the strip at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown. General admission for single-day tickets starts at $30; $100 for three-day general admission, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. - Houston Summer Auto Show at NRG Center | Friday, May 21 to Sunday, May 23 – The annual car show bonanza returns, bringing some of the latest models of vehicles from top manufacturers for visitors to explore inside and out, get into test drives, admire classic car displays, and more. $10; free for ages 2 and under. Times vary.
- Drive-thru Dumpling and Beer Pairing at Eureka Heights Brew Co | Friday, May 21 – Swing by Eureka Heights Brew Company in the Heights where they’ve partnered up with local culinary celebrities, the Dumping Dudez, for a one-of-a-kind pairing package featuring beer and, you guessed it, dumplings. Presale packages start at $45 and each pack will include 12 dumplings (2 of each flavor) and 6 beers. 1pm to 5pm.
- 2021 Taste of Poland Drive-Thru Event at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish | Friday, May 21 to Sunday, May 23 | No Cover – While the Houston Polish Festival prepares for a full-force comeback in September, they’ve gotten things off to an appetizing start with a Taste of Poland drive-thru event, where attendees will be able to pull through for their traditional Polish food, drinks and vendor items to take home. No cover, but drinks and food are on you. Times vary.
- Bidi Bidi Banda (Selena Tribute) at House of Blues | Friday, May 21 – Turn up for a night of classic Tejano when Stephanie Bergara performs many of Selena’s timeless hits. Tickets range from $25 to $49.50, but the $25 general admission tickets are Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO), bringing the per-ticket cost down to $12.50. Tickets must be ordered in pairs to get second ticket/entry for free. 8pm.
- Field Day Houston 2021 at Wakefield Crowbar | Saturday, May 22 – Throwback to the days of recess with this all-day competition of games that pits teams against one another to come out on top in Field Day. Games are subject to change but may include types like tug-of-war, 3-legged races, water balloon toss, obstacle courses, speed Jenga, and more. $300 per team of up to 6 people; $50 to sign up as a Free Agent. 10am to 4pm.
- AAPI Amplified at Avenida Houston | Saturday, May 22 | No Cover | POSTPONED – [Update 5/19/21: This event was postponed from its original date due to expected inclement weather. It’s now scheduled to happen on Saturday, June 5, 2021.] Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander heritage when Houston First presents cultural performances, a fashion show, a pop-up market with Asian-owned businesses, food trucks, and more at Avenida Houston in Downtown. 5pm to 8:30pm.
- Corey Taylor at White Oak Music Hall on the Lawn | Saturday, May 22 – Known for his role as lead singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour, Corey Taylor recently debuted his solo studio album, CMFT, in October 2020 and will bring much of that record to the stage of the White Oak Music Hall lawn. $850 for a pod of ten people, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- 2021 NWSL Home Opener: Houston Dash vs. Kansas City NWSL at BBVA Stadium | Sunday, May 23 – Kick off the start of the NWSL season when the Houston Dash get the ball rolling on the 2021 season with their home opener against Kansas City NWSL at BBVA Stadium in EaDo. Tickets start at $20. 6pm.
