Texans fans rejoice as the 2015 NFL preseason kicks off this week with a game against the 49ers. Pregame with music, beer and food at the Lone Star Beer Texas Heritage Festival. - Ellevate Fall Fashion Preview at Tootsies | Tuesday, August 11 – Network with young professionals while enjoying cocktails and food and getting a preview of fall fashion during this event at Tootsies. $30; $25 for members. 6pm to 8pm.
- Houston Texans Training Camp at Houston Methodist Training Center | Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12 – See your favorite Texans prepare for the gridiron during select open practice days through mid August. The original free tickets are all gone, but you can still find tickets available for sale on the TicketNetwork and Ticket Monster resale markets for around $20 or less. 8am to 11am both days.
- Moonlight Movies for Kids at CityCentre | Wednesday, August 12 | FREE – Grab free popcorn and find a seat on the lawn to catch a showing of the movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day starring Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. This movie marks the final screening of the Moonlight Movies for Kids series. 8pm; movie starts at 9pm.
- Stone’s Throw One Year Anniversary | Thursday, August 13 | FREE to Attend – Celebrate the anniversary of Stone’s Throw Cocktail Lounge during this party with burlesque performances, music and dancing. Complementary Champagne until 9pm. 8pm.
- End of the Summer Tailgate in Katy | Friday, August 14 – Katy residents are invited to enjoy an evening of street dancing, tunes, local refreshments, a Hot Wing cook-off contest and the “Taste of Katy” local restaurant contest, and more during this end of summer bash. Bring a backpack or school supplies donation to get in. 4pm to 10pm.
- Sam Smith in Concert at Toyota Center | Friday, August 14 – Sam Smith, the U.K. artist who won four Grammy Awards on is debut album In The Lonely Hour, is coming to Houston. Sing along to hits like Stay With Me,” “I’m Not the Only One,” “Lay Me Down,” “Latch” and more during this live concert at the Toyota Center. Tickets start at $59.50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on the TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster resale sites. 8pm.
- Lone Star Beer Texas Heritage Festival at Silver Street Studios | Saturday, August 15 | FREE to Attend – Show your Texas pride during this festival complete with live music, food and drinks, carnival games, a photo booth and live mural painting. Bands like The Old 97’s, The Black Angels, Dale Watson and more will perform The festival is free for guests 21 and up. 2pm to 10pm.
- Houston Texans Preseason Kick Off at NRG | Saturday, August 15 – Kick off the Texans’ preseason at their opening game against the San Francisco 49ers. Tickets start at $50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster’s resale sites. 7pm.
- Magnolia City Mystery Show at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar | Sunday, August 16 – Take a step back in time to a 1926 mystery scene at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar. The Moonlight Dolls will perform as the cast and audience mingle to look for clues and determine “who done it”. $35; $60 VIP; $60 to be a character in the show. 5pm to 9pm.
Downward Dog Days of Summer at Karbach Brewing Co. | Sunday, August 16 – Stretch your dollar during this yoga class that includes Karbach brews and a live DJ and benefits veterans through Expedition Balance. Local food vendors like Blood Bros BBQ and Fat Cat Creamery will be on site to curb your appetite and Texas Thai Sports Massage will give free 5-minute massages. $25. 6:30pm to 9:30pm. - Houston Restaurant Weeks | Daily – Dine out at some of Houston’s best restaurants to enjoy prix fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus at special pricing.
