Promote social distancing while utilizing free food and curbside pickup service at districtwide distribution sites around Houston courtesy of HISD and the Houston Food Bank.
The Houston Food Bank, the nation’s largest food bank, supports the children, families, and seniors in Southeast Texas who are in need of food, water, and supplies following the economic slowdown that has resulted from the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Houston Independent School District and the Houston Food Bank will offer safe curbside pickup service at food distribution sites districtwide to help promote personal health
The measure is being implemented to ensure all families, many of whom have students who depend upon school meals, have access to healthy food while the district is closed.

Before You Visit
Meal distribution sites are open to all families and have been strategically located throughout the district to ensure all families have access.
Distribution will take place outside in each parking lot and all families are required to sign-in. The program will be reviewed throughout the week and extended, as needed.
Families who do not have transportation and must walk to the site can continue to stand in line, but will be required to stand six feet apart from each other.
HISD Police and staff volunteers will be on-site to enforce these measures and help with crowd control.

Every year Houston Food Bank feeds 800,000 people through its network of food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and other agencies.
The Food Bank will work closely with their network of partner agencies to ensure food is getting to those who need it most and will also find ways to connect offers of help with those who are providing help.
