Dig up amazing finds at the 66th Annual HGMS Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show

Feast your eyes and mind on earthly treasures and mind-challenging demonstrations at the 66th Annual HGMS Gem, Mineral, Jewelry and Fossil Show at the Humble Civic Center from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10, 2019. 

The Humble Civic Center, located near IAH Airport, is throwing open its doors for another stone-studded event at the HGMS Gem, Mineral, Jewelry and Fossil Show.

Collectors and explorers can browse through more than 50 case exhibits of fossils, minerals, gemstones, and unique jewelry from around the world at this 3-day event presented by the Houston Gem and Mineral Society (HGMS).

Eager-to-learn attendees will find plenty to engage themselves such as a wide array of educational exhibitions and demonstrations that include lessons on jewelry making, beading, lapidary and fossil identifications.

You’ll also find great shopping opportunities featuring unique jewelry, beautiful mineral specimens and ancient fossils perfect for gift-giving or home decor.

Mine Your Mind

All ages can enrich their minds with displays of gems, minerals and fossil specimens, or even get a free identification of your own mystery gem by experts.

While you’re there, be sure to peruse the Mineral Section displays of astounding fluorescent minerals under black light, publications for sale, and school rock, mineral and fossil sets.

If you aren’t feeling minerals, you may dig the Paleontology Section displays, which feature fossil collections, books, “touch fossils,” and more special exhibits that tour various gem and mineral shows.

Visitors can also check out craft activities presented by the Houston Museum of Natural Science, an energy exhibit from the Houston Geological Society, demonstrations of faceting, cabbing, silversmithing, and more throughout each day of the show.

Family Fun

There will be plenty to keep the kiddos engaged, with activities that include the “School Daze” Earth Science Program, the Scout Geology Merit Bade, and the “Dino Dig”.

Parents of younger kids can breath easy as ages 10 and under (accompanied by an adult) receive free admission.
