Catch Theatre Under the Stars’ production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Hobby Center from Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 28, 2015.
Catch real life married duo and Broadway stars Ace Young (Grease, Hair) and Diana DeGarmo (Hairspray, Hair and also season three of American Idol) lead a rousing production of the 1968 hit created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita).
This light-hearted, pop-music parable is based on the Book of Genesis story about the young man who’s sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and ends up in Egypt, where he rises through the ranks and grapples with the pharaoh–portrayed in the hilariously flamboyant style of Elvis.
Set to a high-energy mix of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock, this Old Testament tale has proven to be truly timeless over the last 47 years.
