A Monte Cristo is a tasty treasure of a ham and/or turkey and cheese sandwich that is deep fried, topped with powdered sugar, and then served with a sweet jam on the side. For many, that is a recipe for quite an amazing sandwich.

4 Spots to Find a Tasty Monte Cristo in Houston

  • Kenny & Ziggy’s – The Post Oak favorite is serving up the sweet and savory sandwich grilled and with a choice of fruit or a side of fries. The deli has been serving Houston for nearly 20 years and never disappoints.
  • House of Pies  A hit amongst the late night crowd, House of Pies is serving up the Monte Cristo deep-fried and topped with powdered sugar. If you still have space for more sweet treats, perhaps ending the night with one of their famous pies is the way to go.
  • Bennigan’s – Dubbed as the “World Famous Monte Cristo” Bennigans seems to have a winner on their hands. The red raspberry preserve dipping sauce is the right accompaniment for this savory-sweet sandwich classic.
