  • Baytown’s 4th of July Celebration at Bicentennial Park | Monday & Independence Day | FREE – The City of Baytown hosts its two-day 4th of July event with a parade, a firework extravaganza, and live music by Grammy-winning artists Sunny Sauceda, Siggno, and LeAnn Rimes. A fireworks spectacular caps it off at 9:30pm. Monday 6pm to 10pm; Tuesday 4pm to 10pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Gary Vider at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – Out of New York City comes this finalist on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent, dishing out jokes with his signature subtlety and dry delivery across two days. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian Donnell Rawlings at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Featured on a long list of celebrated television programs like Chappelle’s Show, The Last OG, and Twenties, the comedian and actor Donnell Rawlings comes to Houston for a weekend of laughs at the Improv. $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.

Independence Day, Tuesday, July 4, 2023

  • July 4th Celebration and Street Fest in Tomball | FREE – Honor America’s independence with live music, food, games, and more activities followed by a fireworks spectacular at dusk in Tomball. 4pm to 9:30pm.
  • Freedom Over Texas & Fireworks at Eleanor Tinsley Park – The annual Freedom Over Texas will feature local, regional, and national entertainment and will be capped off with a musically choreographed, “Texas-sized” fireworks finale at Eleanor Tinsley Park. The concert stage will host a headlining set from country star Chris Young, plus award-winning artist Yola, soul band TMF, Cupid, Keesha Pratt Band, Step Rideau and more. Fireworks are slated to start around 9:30pm. Tickets are $10; free ages 5 and under. 4pm to 10pm.
  • Galveston Fourth of July Parade on Seawall Boulevard | FREE – Galveston Island hosts its annual Independence Day with a parade featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles, and performers. The parade will kick off at 6pm with a procession on Seawall Boulevard starting at 22nd Street and ending at 45th Street. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Bubbles & Fireworks Boat Tour at Allen’s Landing – Hop aboard BBP’s pontoon boat for a perfect view of Downtown’s spectacular fireworks show while floating along Buffalo Bayou and enjoying bubbly, beer, wine, and light bites. $125. 8pm to 10pm.

  • Midsummer Sip & Shop at Georgia James – Astros fans can mix and mingle with Reagan Bregman and Julia Morales at a Thursday afternoon event where you can head to the rooftop for a pop-up market event with bites and cocktails. Shop women-owned businesses, including skincare, clothing, accessories and more, with an optional Champagne welcome for VIP ticketholders at noon. $5 and up. 1pm to 3pm.
  • Heights Young Professionals Happy Hour at Trash Panda Drinking Club | No Cover – The Northside cocktail bar hosts a night of mixing, mingling and networking when the Heights group for young professionals stops by for a happy hour celebration. 4pm to 6pm.
  • Country Music & Steak Night at Now or Never – The Midtown watering hole hosts a night of country tunes while you chow down on delicious filets and ribeyes from Meat Therapy. $20 for ribeye steaks or half rack ribs; $25 for filets. 6pm til’ sell out.
  • The Wheel Workers, with Karankawa in Concert at Menard Park | FREE – The Save the Locals concert series rolls on in Galveston with a free outdoor concert featuring the guitar-driven rock of the Wheel Workers, joined by Karankawa. 6pm to 9pm.
  • After Dark with the Arts: Professional Networking & Art Expo at Hilton Houston Plaza Medical Center – Houston Millennials hosts this night of professional networking that also showcases the talents of young artists and performers, including graffiti artists, fire performers, dance flash mobs, fashionistas, magicians and more. $25 and up. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Trivia Night at Star Sailor | FREE – Flex your knowledge on a wide range of trivia topics for the Thirsty Thursdays trivia night at the Heights bar on 18th Street. Prizes will be up for grabs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Cumbia 101 Crash Course for Beginners at Henke & Pillot – Right next to Market Square Park, this cocktail bar will show you the foundational steps, turns and combos to put together a Cumbia dance. All levels welcome. $25 and up. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Be-Witched Thursdays at Etro Nightclub | No Cover – Hit up the Downtown nightclub for a night of underground music, including songs from the worlds of post punk, industrial, goth, ’80s and ’90s new wave, and more. 9pm to 2am.

  • Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone Movie Screening at Urban South HTX Brewery | No Cover – Kicking off the brewery’s month-long Harry Potter festivities, the first film gets a screening alongside specialty beer releases and like-minded fans of the film series. The second and third films are slated for screenings on subsequent Fridays. 6pm.
  • Summer Nights at Museum of Fine Arts Houston – Enjoy a cocktail, listen to live music, chat with curators, and spend time up close with your favorite works of art at MFAH’s Summer Nights series. $40. 6pm to 9pm.
  • BLCK Market Pop Up: 6th Anniversary at Greenstreet | No Cover – Celebrating its sixth year of pop-up vendor markets that highlight Black-owned small businesses and local vendors, this party features all the shopping you’ve come to know and love from the markets, plus live music, food and drinks. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Davido in Concert at Toyota Center – The American-born Nigerian Afrobeats singer headlines the Downtown arena with songs from his brand new release, Timeless. $59 and up. 7pm.
  • Notes of Noire at Pur Noire Urban Wineries – The Downtown winery hosts a four-wine sampling as chosen by their sommeliers, with Houston Groove Society providing a pairing of different songs to match each wine. $40. Two sessions; 7pm and 8:30pm.
  • Near Dark: A Black Light Art Show at Hardy & Nance Studios | FREE – The near-Downtown artist studios hosts their annual exhibition of work that is black light–sensitive, promising a bright and neon-filled show. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Comedian James Austin Johnson at the Secret Group – The Saturday Night Live comedian known for his Donald Trump impressions comes to the East Downtown comedy club for a one-night only show. $25. 8pm.
  • An Evening with Booker T. Jones at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The legendary Stax Records musician and frontman for Booker T. & the MG’s, Booker T. Jones headlines a free concert at Miller, showing why the prodigal talent has been showered with awards like a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. 8:30pm.
  • Emo Night Brooklyn at White Oak Music Hall – Grab your fellow emos for a night of throwback 2010 jams to dance to at the White Oak upstairs stage. $15. 9pm.
  • Tame Impala Tribute Night at Barbarella – Groove to the dancy sounds of Tame Impala when DJ Brandon Airlines offers a night of tribute at the Midtown dance club. Cover at the door. 9pm to 2am.
  • Sam Feldt DJ Set at NOTO – One of the newest nightlife venues in town, NOTO in East End hosts the Dutch DJ for a night of house music to christen the new space. $20 and up. 10pm to 2am.
  • Markus Schulz DJ Set at Stereo Live – Dance to trance, EDM, and house music as the German DJ Markus Schulz hits the stage at the West Houston venue. $10. 10pm to 2am.

Saturday, July 8, 2023 

  • Pound + Pour at 11 Below Brewing Company – In Northwest Houston, take part in a workout inspired by drumming, followed by tasty craft beers from the brewery tap. $15. 11am to noon.
  • Craft Pita Cookout at Craft Pita West University – Craft Pita’s owner and chef Rafael Nasr teams up with Burger Bodega’s Abba Dhanani, Josh Deleon of Underground Creamery, and Pastry Chef Christina Au of Blacksmith for a cookout celebration, featuring menu items like cheeseburger pitas, burger arayes, shish taouk sandwich, and labneh ice cream with olive oil cake. 11am to 2pm.
  • Yoga, Artz & Brunch: Summer Party ’23 at Rise Rooftop – Enjoy an afternoon of wellness, art and community at Rise Rooftop’s special summer event that includes yoga sessions, a live DJ, a three-course brunch, games and a vendor market. $48.50; free for ages 13 and under. Noon to 4pm.
  • Sonido! A Live Music Event at Equal Parts Brewing | FREE – The Harrisburg brewery hosts a live music event with musicians Karina Nistal & the Cosmic Cats, DJ Daro and DJ Purplpitch. Folding chairs and blankets are encouraged. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Road to River Revival: Pimps of Joytime at Market Square Park | FREE – The Brooklyn soul band takes the stage in Market Square Park for another night of jams as part of the district’s Road to River Revival Music Festival. Superfonicos opens the show. 6:30pm.
  • 2nd Annual One Hot Havana Night at Cottonwood | No Cover – Back for a second year, this Cuban-themed celebration features a night of drink specials, live music, cigar rolling, and a pig roast. 7pm ’til sellout.
  • Blink-182 in Concert at Toyota Center – The pop punk band’s original lineup of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker rejoin for the first time in nearly a decade for a singalong concert of fan faves. $29.50 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Los Skarnales in Concert at the Heights Theater – Houston’s very own ska punk masters take the Heights stage with special guests, Cayoga All Stars. $18. 8pm.
  • Dumpstaphunk in Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Delight in the funky stylings of New Orleans’ Dumpstaphunk when they pull up for a free concert at the Hermann hill. 8:30pm.
  • Night Drive in Concert at Numbers Nightclub – The iconic Montrose nightclub hosts indie electronic act Night Drive, backed by Urban Heat, the Factory Party and Bewitched DJs. $20 and up. 9pm.
  • Laszewo in Concert at Rise Rooftop – The American dance trio headline a night up top at the Midtown nightlife hotspot. $10 and up. 10pm.
  • Gettoblaster DJ Set at Bauhaus – The electronic duo sets up on the decks at Downtown’s Bauhaus by blending the genres of their respective birthplaces, the house of Chicago and techno of Detroit. $10 and up. 10pm.
