- Vitacca Ballet presents Launch at MATCH | Thursday, April 20 & Friday, April 21 – The Houston-based ballet premieres its very first full-length production in an evening of original works. $25 and up. 7:30pm.
- Evelyn R. Rubenstein JCC presents Photograph 51 at Joe Frank Theatre of the Arts | Thursday, April 20 | Ongoing – Directed by Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre founder Jennifer Decker, this moving play tells the story of scientist Rosalind Franklin and her contributions to the discovery of the DNA molecule. $25. - Performing Arts Houston presents Gregory Maqoma’s Vuyani Dance Theatre at Wortham Center | Friday, April 21 – The acclaimed theatrical-dance troupe makes its Houston debut in this performance of Cion: Requiem of Ravel’s Boléro. $39 and up. 7:30pm.
- The Garden Theatre presents Steel Magnolias at MATCH | Friday, April 21 | Ongoing – This enduring story of female friendship in triumph and sadness explores the intertwined lives of six Southern women who gather in Truvy’s beauty shop. $25. Showtimes vary.
- Houston Grand Opera presents Tosca at Wortham Center | Friday, April 21 | Ongoing – Puccini’s dazzling tour de force follows the story of singer Floria Tosca, madly in love with painter Cavaradossi. Their love affair is threatened by the Baron Scarpia, who desires Tosca for himself. Star soprano and HGO Studio alumna Tamara Wilson makes her role debut as Tosca. - DaCamera presents Emanuel Ax at Wortham Center | Saturday, April 22 – The renowned pianist performs works by Shubert and Liszt at the Downtown performing arts venue. $42.50 and up. 8pm.
- Main Street Theater for Youth presents James & the Giant Peach at MATCH | Sunday, April 23 | Ongoing – The beloved Roald Dahl novel comes to life on stage, telling the story of a young boy sent to live with his terrible aunts following his parents’ death by rhinoceros. But then, a peach tree becomes a magic portal to an adventure beyond his wildest dreams. $20 and up. 12:30pm and 3:30pm.
