Laugh along with a young Dr. Frankenstein and his monster as Standing Room Only Productions stages Mel Brooks’ Broadway musical Young Frankenstein Thursdays through Saturdays from October 10 to 26, 2013 at Obsidian Art Space.
Co-written with Gene Wilder who played the iconic title role of Brooks’ original 1974 film, the first musical adaptation appeared on Broadway from 2007 to 2009. Now Houston’s own SRO Productions is presenting the show for Houston audiences, complete with Brooks’ trademark wit, parody and fairly innocent dirty jokes.
The show tells of Freddy Frankenstein’s wacky attempts to follow in his family’s mad-scientist footsteps, now set to catchy and absurd tunes, including the classic and beloved scene of Frankenstein’s Monster singing “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
