Experience the heart-tugging drama and fascinating puppetry of War Horse, as the internationally acclaimed production gallops into the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts from Tuesday, May 27 through Sunday, June 1, 2014.
The play is particularly notable for the starring role of the horse Joey, which is powerfully performed by a collection of actors and puppeteers.
War Horse tells a tale of courage, loyalty and friendship between a young boy, Albert, and his beloved horse Joey. Three years after Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France to fight in the Great War in 1914, Albert embarks on an extraordinary journey to find him and bring him home. Meanwhile, this smart and brave horse is pulled into service on both sides of the conflict before being left on his own in no-man’s-land, surrounded by trenches and barbed wire. War Horse is a universal story about hope in the face of adversity, and the production is an anthem for peace.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I.
