March brings the return of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, but that’s not the only amazing thing on the agenda.
This month, you can get a taste of the Lone Star with a Texas Independence Day Dinner, celebrate the Centennial of Memorial Park at The Biggest Picnic in Texas, and welcome St. Patty’s Day with Irish food and drink, live music, and more.

- 2024 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at NRG Park | Daily through Sunday, March 17 – Rodeo season is back, stacked with three weeks of family-friendly fun and the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo. Visit for a colossal festival filled with carnival rides and games, unique shopping experiences, and all kinds of festival treats, from classics like Texas bbq, deep fried Oreos, and funnel cakes to wacky treats like donut burgers and caramel apples crusted with Flaming Hot Cheetos. Grounds tickets are $20; $10 for ages 3 to 12; free for ages 2 and under; includes access to the carnival and livestock show, rides and other attractions are an additional fee. Tickets for the rodeo and concert start at $25, and includes access to the grounds. Times vary.
- Katy Taste Fest at Typhoon Texas | Saturday, March 2 – The fan-favorite Katy food festival returns, with unlimited tastes from over 20 restaurants showing off a variety of cuisines from American, Indian and Mexican to Italian, Thai and more, plus beer tasting, live music, and entertainment. $45, including a beer/wine tasting card; $35 for ages 13 to 20. Noon to 3pm.
- Texas Independence Day at the Rustic | Saturday, March 2 | No Cover – The Lone Star–born live music bar and restaurant will celebrate the great state of Texas with roller ropers, live country tunes, and $5 Tito’s lemonades. Music kicks off at 12:30pm and the fun runs all night ‘til 11pm.
- Texas Independence Day Dinner with Levi Goode & Friends at Armadillo Palace | Saturday, March 2 – Hosted by Goode Company president and chef Levi Goode, this Texas Independence Day experience features a backyard, family-style dinner with a focus on all things Texas. Expect passed bites and a live-fire menu, music in the yard, and Texas wines and craft cocktails using Texas spirits. $150; VIP available for $250. 6:30pm.
- Table to Stage with Chef Chris Shepherd at Stages | Monday, March 4 – Chef Chris Shepherd continues his exclusive series of intimate conversations, opening up a dialogue with world-renowned chefs and exploring the hidden artistry and inspirations that shape the foods we love. This month features Texas-born Chef Sarah Grueneberg, James Beard Award winner and finalist on Bravo’s Top Chef: Texas. $45 and up. 7:30pm.
- Taste of Nobu at Nobu Houston | Thursday, March 7 – In celebration of 30 years of the Nobu brand, chef Nobu Matsuhisa has embarked on a journey across the states to commemorate scenes of Nobu throughout the years. The notable chef will stop in Houston for a special evening featuring signature canapes, live chef stations and handcrafted cocktails. $250 per person. 6:30pm to 9pm.
- Biggest Picnic in Texas: 100th Birthday Edition at Memorial Park | Saturday, March 9 | FREE – Memorial Park Conservancy is celebrating the Park’s Centennial in 2024, kicking things off at a Texas-sized birthday party with the return of Biggest Picnic in Texas. This year’s family-friendly event will feature picnic festivities, entertainment, food and drinks, treats from H-E-B and more. 10am to 3pm.
- St. Paddy’s Party at Truck Yard Houston | Saturday, March 16 & Sunday, March 17 | No Cover – Dress in green garb and get ready for a day of shenanigans as Truck Yard host its all-day St. Patrick’s Day bash. Expect tunes that’ll make you shamrock and roll, Irish food and food trucks, and plenty of booze, including Irish beer. Noon to 2am (21+ after 9pm).
- Saint Patrick’s Day at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | Sunday, March 17 | FREE – Saint A’s annual family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day Party returns to the Beer Garden & Restaurant, featuring beer, food, live entertainment, the annual Donegal Beard Growing Competition and more. 11am.
- Tomball German Heritage Festival in Old Downtown Tomball | Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24 | FREE – Tomball’s annual German Fest fills the streets with more than 200 vendors rocking antiques, arts and crafts, and more; plus cultural music, street performances, a Heritage Center, and tasty German fare, festival eats, and beer and wine. The weekend-long event is family-friendly and free to attend, with free parking and a shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday as well. Times vary.
- CultureMap Tastemaker Awards at Silver Street Studios | Wednesday, March 27 – This annual foodie event celebrates Houston’s top restaurant and bar talent, as selected by their peers. Mingle with all the nominees, enjoy tasty bites from local chefs and hotspots, sip specialty drinks, and cheer on the winners as they are unveiled. $60 and up. 7pm.
- Sazon Latin Food Festival at Karbach Brewery | Saturday, March 30 | FREE – Come hungry (and thirsty) for the Sazon Latin Food Festival, featuring Latin food vendors representing flavors from the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Pair the eats with Karbach brews and look out for live music and family-friendly fun, too. 11am to 6pm.
