  • Houston StorySlam: Elbow Grease 2024 at Warehouse Live Midtown | Tuesday – The Moth returns to Warehouse Live for an evening of personal, five-minute stories told by locals on the theme of Elbow Grease. $17.50. 7:30pm.
  • Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park | Tuesday to Thursday – The ‘stros face off against the A’s in a three day, mid-week series at Minute Maid Park. Times vary.
  • TUTS presents Dear Evan Hansen at Hobby Center | Opens Tuesday | Ongoing – The acclaimed musical explores our social media–connected world from the point of view of parents and teens. In our search for connection, are we growing further apart? And how can we find where we belong? Funny and poignant, this Tony Award-winning show perfectly captures what it means to be human. $34.50 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea at Rienzi | Wednesday | FREE with RSVP – Be part of the discussion of this book by Jack E. Davis that explores how the Gulf of Mexico’s fruitful ecosystems and exceptional beauty empowered a growing nation. This is the first event in Rienzi’s history book discussion series for the 2024-2025 year. RSVP required. 1:30pm.
  • Taste America: Houston at Four Seasons Hotel | Thursday – Expect absolute foodie heaven at the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America event at this walk around tasting with some of Houston’s best chefs. $175. 6pm.
  • DeCamera Young Artists in Concert: The Art of Judaica at MFAH | Thursday | FREE – DaCamera Young Artists perform a live concert inspired by the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Gallery for Judaica. 6:30pm.
  • Grand Opening at Tejas Brewery | Thursday to Saturday – If you have a passion for craft beer, this celebration has that and more with live entertainment, and giveaways. Times vary.
  • 17th Annual Galveston Women’s Conference at Moody Gardens Convention Center | Friday – Actress and author Jennifer Grey, best known as Dirty’s Dancing‘s Baby, keynotes at a day full of empowerment, inspiration, and retail therapy. $225; $175 for Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce members. 9am to 5pm.
  • Brew at the Zoo at Houston Zoo | Friday – The zoo’s fall favorite event returns, offering beer tastings from several local breweries and gluten-free options like hard seltzers, ciders, and canned cocktails while helping save animals in the wild. $45 for a beer pass; $35 for event only pass. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Hispanic/Latino/Latina/Latinx/Latine Vote at Stages | Friday to Sunday – Houston-raised playwright Bernardo Cubría explores identity, community, and the hilarious absurdity of the political machine in a laugh out loud satire. $25. 2pm or 7pm.
  • Viet Cultural Fest 2024 at NRG Center | Saturday  Folks are invited to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture at the largest Vietnamese festival in Texas, with traditional games, exciting competitions like a blind boba tasting contest and pho eating contest, tasty food and drink, rich cultural entertainment, and more. $10. 10am to 7pm.
  • HTown Agave Festival at Picos Restaurant | Saturday – The award-winning Picos in Upper Kirby throws its first ever celebration of agave agave spirit samples (Tequila and mezcal), music from DJ Big Reeks, specialty Mexican food, festival swag, giveaways, and more. $25 in advance;  $30 at the door. 1pm.
  • El Grito at Miller with Caña Dulce y Caña Brava at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Sunday | FREE – Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with the traditional grito followed by a show from Caña Dulce y Caña Brava filled with music, poetry, dance and the traditional attire of Veracruz. 7:30pm.
