  • Praia Urbana presents Resolution at Bauhaus | New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1 – Celebrate the New Year at this annual all-day party. Three stages feature DJs Shiba San, Dosem, and more than 30 local artists offering a variety of music styles for your dancing and grooving pleasure. $30 and up. 2pm to late.
  • 27th Annual Townes Van Zandt Wake at Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe | New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1 | FREE – Ring in the new year by paying respects to a much celebrated Texas legend gone too soon at the annual Townes Van Zandt wake in Galveston. Held at the site of the singer-songwriter’s iconic album recording, the wake features different musicians that will step up to the open mic and cover his songs all evening long. 5:30pm.
  • Drew Fish, Mason Lively & Matt Castillo at Main Street Crossing | Wednesday, January 3 – Enjoy a lively night of dynamic country music as three sons of Texas each bring their individual styles to the Tomball stage. $28 and up. 8pm.
  • John Fullbright at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | Thursday, January 4 – The Grammy-nominated folk and Americana singer-songwriter brings his style, reminiscent of Okie greats such as Merle Haggard and Leon Russell, to the Upper Kirby stage. $50 and up. 7pm.
  • Choral Performances in the Buffalo Bayou Cistern | Thursday, January 4 to Saturday, January 6 – Head to the cavernous cistern for the final opportunities to witness the Schola Cantorum of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart filling the sprawling hollows of the Buffalo Bayou Cistern with music spanning the seventh century to the present day. $25.   • Solido in Concert at Warehouse Live Midtown | Friday, January 5 – The Grammy-winning El Paso norteño group headlines a night at the new Warehouse Live in Midtown. Los Carnalitos and DJ Jammin James help open the show. $20 and up. 8pm.
  • AT&T Playoff Playlist Live at Shell Energy Stadium | Friday, January 5 to Sunday, January 7 | FREE with RSVP – Dive into the excitement of the college football playoff season with a three-day concert series set against the backdrop of the Downtown skyline from the EaDo stadium. Kick off the weekend with a family-friendly performance from Kidz Bop on Friday; then, Saturday brings a powerhouse evening featuring the talents of Jack Harlow, Latto, 2 Chainz, and Paul Russell; and Sunday caps off the festivities by bringing country music to the forefront with performances by Jon Pardi, Jake Owen, and Megan Moroney.   • Joey Greer at Dosey Doe: the Big Barn | Friday, January 5 – The Texas-based country music singer-songwriter takes over the Woodlands stage when he passes through the Big Barn. $12 and up. 8:30pm.
  • 15th Annual BowiElvis Fest at Continental Club | Saturday, January 6 – This annual festival returns to Mid-Main, honoring two music legends with a shared birthday; David Bowie and Elvis Presley. Catch tribute tunes from bands across multiple stages, face painting, Bowie and Elvis games, a costume contest, prizes and more. $25 and up. 6:30pm to late.
  • Galveston Symphony Orchestra presents New Year’s Pops Concert at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Sunday, January 7 – Cap off the first week of the new year with the premiere of the GSO’s newest chamber ensemble, Fossekall, who provides a high-energy Latin music and dance–inspired program. $10 and up. 4pm.
