  • The Veronicas at White Oak Music Hall | Wednesday, May 1 – The pop star duo out of Brisbane takes the stage at White Oak when they come through town. $35 and up. 7pm.
  • UHD Thursday Night Concert at Discovery Green | Thursday, May 2 | FREE – The annual Downtown concert series returns with Grupo Fantasma, a nine-piece collective praised as an important ensemble in Latin music. Grupo Vadenagi opens. 7pm.
  • Hozier, with Allison Russell at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Thursday, May 2 – Fresh off the release of the red hot single “Too Sweet,” the Irish bluesy folk rocker Hozier takes over the Woodlands in celebration of his third studio album, Unreal Unearth. $120 and up. 7:30pm.

  • Guillermo Serpas in Concert at Lynn Wyatt Square | Friday, May 3 | FREE – After you’re out of work, stop by Downtown’s newest gathering place in Theater Disrict for a live outdoor show by Spanish fusion guitarist Guillermo Serpas. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Cinco de Mayo at Miller: ¡Viva Mexico¡ Viva America! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, May 3 | FREE – The longstanding annual tradition at Miller Outdoor Theatre is back with another night of Cinco de Mayo celebration, featuring the nationally recognized talents of Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles with Mariachi Garibaldi. 8:15pm.
  • Surfer Girl in Concert at Last Concert Cafe | Friday, May 3 – The reggae pop surf rock duo heads to the longtime Houston cantina for some Friday night tunes. $20 and up. 9pm.
  • La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival at Galveston’s Beach Central | Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5 – Head down to the island for a three-day celebration of beach culture and live music, with more than 30 acts including headliners The Nude Party, Kam Franklin, Tanya Nolan and many more. The festival will also feature surf competitions, vendors, food trucks, art installations, and more. Free on Friday; $25 per day on Saturday and Sunday. Times vary.
  • Flatland Cavalry at White Oak Music Hall | Saturday, May 4 – Flatland Cavalry ride through town all the way from Lubbock, bringing their newest single, “Let It Roll.” $35 and up. 6pm.
  • J Boog at the Heights Theater | Saturday, May 4 – One of the top reggae singers in the scene, J Boog heads to the lovely Heights Theater for a Saturday night show. $28 and up. 8pm.

  • Dancing on Steel at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, May 4 | FREE –The San Jacinto Community College Steel Band headline a night at Miller, offering a showcase of creative new arrangements of popular songs along with high-energy original choreography. 8:15pm.
  • Chris Lake at Bayou Music Center | Saturday, May 4 – British electronic dance music producer and DJ Chris Lake brings all the vibes with him when he plays a live set in the Bayou City. $64 and up. 9pm.
  • Kingwood Chorale: Choral Classics Old & New Around Kingwood | Saturday, May 4 & Sunday, May 5 – Celebrating 35 years of music, these pair of live concerts bring short classic and new choral masterpieces to Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood on Saturday, and Atascocita Methodist Church on Sunday. $30.   • Motionless In White & In This Moment at White Oak Music Hall | Sunday, May 5 – The metalcore group out of Pennsylvania swings through the South on The Dark Horizon tour, with In This Moment supporting. $50 and up. 5pm.
  • Interpol at Bayou Music Center | Sunday, May 5 – The indie rock stalwarts from Manhattan come through Downtown celebrating the 20th anniversary of Antics. Houston’s Narrow Head will open the show. $59 and up. 8pm. 
  • Joe Satriani & Steve Vai at 713 Music Hall | Sunday, May 5 – Two American guitar legends share the same stage when Deep Purple’s Joe Satriani and virtuoso Steve Vai head to Post Houston for a night of magic. $108.50 and up. 8pm.
