  • Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors at Toyota Center | Thursday, April 4 – One of the Rockets’ final home games of the season is also one of the most important matchups of the year. The Warriors and Rockets will take center court with both teams vying for a ticket to the postseason, but just one final play-in spot remaining—and a narrow window to make the cut. $48 and up. 7pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Festival at Rudyard’s Pub | Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 – More than 50 comedians descend on the Montrose pub for a weekend of comedy across three stages, plus a street carnival, beer and cocktails and tasty eats. Headlining talent includes Rocky Dale Davis, Robert Kelly and Kim Congdon—not to mention a slate of Houston’s funniest comics, podcasters and more. Individual shows start at $25; $159 for all-access, early bird discounts available. Times vary.
  • Galveston Steampunk Festival at Galveston Railroad Museum | Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7 – Fans of the steampunk aesthetic will assemble for this three-day fest celebrating the sci-fi subgenre that crosses Victorian-era tech with retrofuturism. Throughout Saturday, fans can take in live music and special performances, participate in a costume contest and enjoy games like archery, axe throwing and more. Then, on Sunday, festival goers can stroll through home and history tours of the Galveston area, plus an evening walking ghost tour. $25 and up; $15 for kids. Saturday festival is 11am to 11pm; other activities vary by time.
  • Catastrophic Theatre presents Cleansed at MATCH | Friday, April 5 to Saturday, April 27 – Sarah Kane’s play is a fever-dream fable of unimaginable brutality and miraculous beauty. An exploration of the threat to the bodies and lives of those of us who look, live, or love beyond the confines of conservative ‘norms,’ it feels as contemporary now as it did when it was written 26 years ago. Pay-what-you-can. Showtimes vary.
  • Pearland Holi Extravaganza at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, April 6 – A huge Holi celebration descends on Pearland to kick off April, complete with plenty of color play, DJs, games, kids activities, and a market featuring food, shopping and local vendors. No ticket required for festivities; $7 for admission to color play zone. 11am to 5pm.

  • Annual Kite Festival at Hermann Park | Sunday, April 7 | FREE – One of Hermann Park’s signature events of the year, the Kite Festival at the Hermann hill offers a day of kite flying and fun, with other activities like live music, DJs, interactive games, face painting and more. 10am to 3pm.
  • Spring Cup at Houston Polo Club | Sunday, April 7 – The Houston polo season returns with a Spring Cup opener and plenty of ponies hitting the pitch. Held near Memorial Park, this is your chance to take in exciting polo action along with tasty concessions from David Cordúa’s The Lymbar, live music, Champagne divot stomps at halftime, and more. $18 and up. 5pm.
  • Jazzy Sundays at Buffalo Bayou Park | Sundays from April 7 to April 28 | FREE – The annual Jazzy Sunday series moves to Buffalo Bayou Park with four Sunday outdoor concerts open to the public. Catch Ghost Note with Monterey Jazz and the TSU All-Stars (April 7); Free Radicals with Hot Box (April 14); R&D Lab with Lolade (April 21); and cap it off with Chief Adjuah and Sal Capone (April 28), before the series moves to Discovery Green for the month of May. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Texas Solar Eclipse Celebration at Space Center Houston | Monday, April 8 – Come by the Space Center on Eclipse Day for a full afternoon of fun, including complimentary viewing glasses, talks with space experts, solar system bracelet-making, inflatables, and other hands-on activities. $29.95; $24.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under. 9am to 6pm.
  • The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival in Town Green Park | Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14 – A certain marker that spring has arrived, the 19th Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival brings more than 200 accomplished artists out to the Waterway shores and surroundings with live music, entertainment, and food and drink. $18; free for ages 12 and under. Times vary.

  • Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park | Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14 – Just two weeks into the season, the Astros get a rematch of the NLCS when the Texas Rangers come down South for a three-game series at Minute Maid. Giveaways across the weekend include an orange Altuve jersey, a Framber bobblehead, and an Astros cowboy hat. $29 and up. Times vary.
  • Festival of Eid 2024 at Asia Society Texas Center | Saturday, April 13 | FREE – Mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan at this Asia Society festival that features outdoor food trucks and delicious eats, as well as craft activities, henna designs, musical performances and an indoor bazaar where you can shop local artists and small businesses. Pre-registration is required. Free to attend; $10 for ticketed performances. Noon to 4pm.
  • 37th Annual Houston Art Car Parade on Allen Parkway | Saturday, April 13 | FREE – One of Houston’s most beloved events—and the largest celebration of its kind in the world with over 250 cars—gets rolling on Allen Parkway for its 37th edition. Come early at 11am to see the cars lineup and enjoy a mini music festival with food trucks and beverages. Parade begins at 2pm.
  • Houston LatinFest at Crown Festival Park | Saturday, April 13 & Sunday, April 14 – Returning to Sugar Land, this annual music and culture festival is a family-friendly gathering with live Latin music along with local vendors and delicious Latin foods. $12 and up; free for ages 12 and under. 1pm to 10pm.
  • Houston Barbecue Festival at Humble Civic Center | Sunday, April 14 – The 11th Annual Houston Barbecue Festival showcases the best of Houston bbq, with an all-star lineup including fan-favorite smokehouses like Blood Bros BBQ, Brett’s BBQ Shop, CorkScrew BBQ, Daddy Duncan’s BBQ, Lenox Bar-B-Q, Ray’s BBQ Shack, Roegels Barbecue Co., Southern Q BBQ, Tejas Chocolate & BBQ, Truth BBQ and a whole bunch more. $65 and up. 1pm to 4pm.

  • TUTS presents The Cher Show at Hobby Center | Tuesday, April 16 to Sunday, April 28 – Called “slyly fabulous” by the Hollywood Reporter, this show examines the life of the incomparable Cher, who’s dominated music, movies and more across her six-decade career. Bonus: every one of those iconic Bob Mackie outfits are recreated for the stage. $40 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Midtown Art in the Park at Midtown Park | Saturday, April 20 | FREE – Stop by Midtown Houston for back-to-back days of art celebration at this family-friendly event with local vendors, performers, and limited ArtJam activities where you’ll craft some take-home keepsakes. This year’s theme celebrates National Jazz Month and the 125th anniversary of Duke Ellington’s birth. 10am to 4pm.
  • Earth Day Celebration & Water Works Festival at Discovery Green | Saturday, April 20 | FREE – One of Discovery Green’s signature events, the annual family-friendly festival returns with a full afternoon of interactive exhibits and educational experiences, plus live music, art installations, face painting, crafts and activities. Noon to 5pm.
  • Houston Dynamo FC vs. Austin FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday, April 20 – The 290 rivalry gets another installment when Austin takes to the Dynamo pitch for a spring clash in the evening. $16 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Houston Roughnecks vs. Arlington Renegades at Rice Stadium | Sunday, April 21 – After debuting in the UFL, the Roughnecks, who ran riot in the early goings of the former XFL, kick off Week 4 with a home game against Arlington on the Rice University campus. $22 and up. 1pm.

  • 19th Annual Frida Festival at The Storyhive | Saturday, April 27 | FREE – Celebrate all things Frida Kahlo at an East End festival featuring lively music, performances, vendors, food trucks, and plenty of people dressed up as one of Mexico’s most beloved and legendary artists. 11am to 7pm.
  • Houston Brew Fest at Discovery Green | Saturday, April 27 – Beer fans can enjoy an afternoon of craft beer tasting from over 50 breweries, plus food trucks, lawn games and live music at the Downtown park space. $50 and up. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Houston Zydeco Fest at Emancipation Park | Saturday, April 27 – The Third Ward park space hosts an afternoon of Zydeco tunes and food vendors that make up a Creole party with games, contests and more activities. $10 and up; free for 8 and under. 2pm to 10pm.
  • Sugar Land Arts Fest 2024 at Smart Financial Centre Plaza | Saturday, April 27 & Sunday, April 28 – This two-day arts festival showcases more than 100 visual artists from across the country, plus you can enjoy live music, food, wine and more. Single day tickets are $10; $18 for both days. 10am to 4pm.
  • Rolling Stones in Concert at NRG Stadium | Sunday, April 28 – The legendary rock ‘n’ roll band with nearly 2,000 concerts under their belts celebrate almost 60 years together with music from their latest, Hackney Diamonds. $69 and up. 8pm.
  • Bad Bunny in Concert at Toyota Center | Tuesday, April 30 & Wednesday, May 1 – The King of Latin Trap continues his reign over the world with a march through Texas featuring songs from 2023’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. $180 and up. 8pm.
