  • Mustang Car Show at Kemah Boardwalk | FREE to Attend – Calling all car enthusiasts to Kemah for this all-day display of more than 120 mustangs. 7am to 7pm.
  • Step Out Walk at NRG | FREE to Attend – Join the American Diabetes Association at NRG for a 5k fundraising walk complete with free health screenings, yoga and zumba classes, and a family fun zone. While this event is free to attend, participants are encouraged to fundraise. 9am to 3pm.
  • Fiestas Patrias at the Children’s Museum of HoustonBring the kiddos to the Children’s Museum for a celebration with mariachi performances, a reenactment of “Grito de Dolores”, and a dance from Ballet Folklórico Las Américas. $12. 10am to 4pm.
  • Beyond the Pines Music Fest in The WoodlandsGet your tickets now to see Reckless Kelly, Aaron Watson and many more during this family-friendly music festival that supports multiple charities. Tickets start at $45, not including ticket fees. 10am to 11pm.
  • UH Cougars vs. Lamar Cardinals at TDECU Stadium Scream for the Cougars when they play the Cards at home. Tickets start at $24, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 11am.
  • The Market at Sawyer Yards | FREE to Attend Browse the curated market in the Washington Avenue Arts District, which features a mix of artist mediums with a focus on folk art, “maker is the seller,” artisan crafts, and packaged specialty foods. 11am to 5pm.
  • Diggin’ for Dinos Workshop at The Houston Museum of Natural Science & Beyuda’s Space Join Beyuda Houston for Diggin’ for Dinos, an adult workshop where you can learn all about dino diggin’. You will be able to take a tour at The Houston Museum of Natural Science paleontology hall and then meet up at Beyuda Space to practice proper excavation techniques with real fossil matrix material. Cost of the class is $25. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Glaciology Lecture with Kurt Cuffey at the CAMH | FREE to Attend – Hear all about glaciers – their dynamics, effect on landscapes and relation to climate – during this lecture from glaciologist Kurt Cuffey. Get there early as seating is limited. 2pm.
  • Viva el Tequila Festival at Cadillac Bar Tequila-lovers unite for the 1st Annual Viva el Tequila fest featuring tequila, beer, and signature cocktails from the likes of Patrón, Don Julio, Avión, Maestro Dobel, Titanium, Pura Vida, and more. Enjoy tasty tacos to go with your tequila as well as dancing and even festive face painting. Ticket prices vary. 2pm to 5pm.
  • The Texas Tenors in Concert at The GrandHead to Galveston to see America’s Got Talent season 4 semifinalists The Texas Tenors perform live. Tickets start at $27, not including ticket fees. 3pm and 8pm.
  • Houston Wine Fest at Buffalo Bayou ParkWind down at the Houston Wine Fest with live entertainment, arts and crafts, and, of course, wine. $50. 3pm to 10pm.
  • Brazilian Independence Day Celebration at Capitol BarCelebrate Brazilian culture during this Independence Day celebration complete with music, food, and activities. Tickets start at $10, not including ticket fees. 4pm to 11pm.
  • Lewis Black Live at Revention Music CenterLaugh out loud at the crude humor of comedian Lewis Black when The Emperor’s New Clothes: The Naked Truth Tour rolls through Houston. Tickets start at $39.50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8pm.

  • 15th Anniversary Commemoration of 9/11 at Market Square Park | FREE – Remember those lost on September 11, including Houstonian passenger Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas, during this commemorative event with Mayor Turner at Market Square Park’s Lauren’s Garden. 10am.
  • Houston Texans vs Chicago Bears at NRG Stadium Watch the Houston Texans kick off their season with a noon game against the Bears on home turf. Tickets start at $100, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Noon.
  • Family Yoga at Discovery Green | FREE Bring the whole fam (not recommended for kiddos under the age of 9) out to Discovery Green and say “namaste” during this free yoga class led by instructors from Nia Moves. 1pm.
  • Watercolors 101 Workshop at Myth & Symbol Learn the basics of water coloring from Houston artist Lisa Chow during this workshop at Myth and Symbol. $45. 3pm to 5pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. Boston Breakers at BBVA Compass Stadium Cheer on the Dash as they take on Boston at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets start at $15, not including ticket fees. 6pm.
  • Cyndi Lauper in Concert at Revention Music CenterCyndi Lauper’s Detour Tour will hit Revention Music Center on Sunday night. Get ready to sing along to hits like “Time After Time”, “True Colors”, and “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” from the award-winning artist. Tickets start at $61, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8pm.
