- Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Sam Houston Park – The annual breast cancer awareness event returns, raising donations and sending walkers and runners to the track to represent those who can’t. Registration is $45; $30 for ages 17 and under. 7am.
- Zoo Boo 2022 at Houston Zoo – The annual Halloween-themed event opens at Houston Zoo, providing a month of fall festivities, a pumpkin lantern tunnel, photo ops across the grounds, and more, in addition to all the zoo fun you’ve come to know and love. $20 and up. 9am to 5pm.
- Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival at Root Memorial Square | FREE – Celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day at the annual parade that begins at Root Memorial Square, just outside of Toyota Center. Dish on jollof rice, and enjoy afrobeats and a cultural procession through the streets of Downtown. 10am to 4pm.
- Black Swan Free Yoga on Skylawn at Post Houston | FREE – Black Swan Yoga hosts a free session atop Post Houston, with stunning skyline views for you to take in as you hit all your poses. 11am.
- Hands-On Houston: Papermaking in the Craft Garden at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | FREE – Find inspiration from paper-making plants in the garden, and learn how to use recycled paper and plant fibers to form a sheet of paper at HCCC. 11am to 3pm.
- 8th Annual Houston Creole Heritage Festival at Emancipation Park – Third Ward welcomes the return of the Creole Heritage Festival, which packs a day full of live music—including Ruben Moreno and the Zydeco Re-Evolution—as well as delicious food, dancing, a special Mardi Gras punch, and a VIP Creole tasting experience with Chef Gason Nelson out of NOLA. $10 and up; free for ages under 12. VIP tickets are $50. 11am to 10pm.
- Oktoberfest 5k Pub Run/Walk in Montrose | FREE – Soak in the great weather and join a Montrose pub crawl starting at the Phoenix on Westheimer and proceeding to West Alabama Ice House, Poison Girl, and Penny Whistle—followed by a stein hoisting competition—at a fundraiser to support Friends of the Phoenix’s Bike Around the Bay Team. Free to join; $10 donation is suggested. 1pm to 5pm.
- KTX Market Day at No Label Brewing Co. | No Cover – The Katy brewery hosts another edition of the KTX Market Day, featuring local vendors, live music and food trucks on the grounds of the spacious No Label Brewing. 1pm to 5pm.
- Oktoberfest: Music to My Beers at Pearland Town Center | FREE – The big beer fest extravaganza returns to Pearland with a full day of music performances from Morgan Ashley, the Hamilton Loomis Duo, and the Stringbenders, plus, you can sample seasonal offerings from nine of the region’s tastiest craft breweries. 2pm to 9pm.
- 2022 H-Town on Tap Beer Fest at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park – Local and national breweries gather at the Water Works for a crisp fall day of beer sampling and local chefs, live bands, games, giveaways and more. $15. 2pm to 9pm.
- Battle of the Piney Woods: Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks vs. Sam Houston State Bearkats at NRG Stadium – The oldest college football rivalry returns to NRG, notching its 96th meeting between the two regional colleges. $15 and up. 2:30pm.
- Frida Love Market at the Esplanade at Navigation | No Cover – At the East End Esplanade, this special pet-friendly market gathers local vendors for a community event that celebrates culture and the legacy of Frida Kahlo. 3pm to 9pm.
- Oktoberfest at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Flying Saucer Biergarten opens more than 50 taps for a Bavarian celebration in Sugar Land, featuring a vintage and crafts market, live music and dance, and traditional German foods with roaming jugglers, stilt walkers, tarot readers and other special surprises. 4pm to 9pm.
- Voyages, Paysages, Visages Opening Reception at Archway Gallery | FREE – Check out the debut of a new exhibit pairing original international travel photos by Isabelle Perreau with the U.S. photography of Gary Watson—wine and light bites will be served. 5pm to 8pm; artists talk at 6:30pm.

- Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan presents 13 Tongues at Wortham Center – This dance theater group from Taiwan offers a night of music ranging from Taiwanese folk songs and Taoist chants to electronica paired with projections of brilliant colors, shapes and images that recall the clamor of street life. $39 and up. 7:30pm.
- Weird Al Yankovic in Concert at Cullen Performance Hall – The beloved American singer and satirist is performing original, non-parody songs when he graces the stage at Cullen Performance Hall with support from Emo Phillips. $44.50 and up. 8pm.
- Houston Pride Brand presents Anime-zing at MATCH – The Houston Pride Band performs music from beloved video games and animated series in a concert that celebrates the worlds of gaming, anime and cartoons. $15. 8pm.
- Mary J. Blige in Concert at Toyota Center – Touring behind her latest release, Good Morning Gorgeous, the iconic R&B powerhouse takes the stage in Downtown, joined by Ella Mai and Queen Naija. $69.50 and up. 8pm.
